The Beach

I love that The Beach has fresh and healthy options... especially thankful for the vegan options! I always seem to crave it when they're closed, but now and then, I catch them during business hours. Last time, I got a sandwich with hummus, cucumbers, sprouts, tomatoes. The bread was fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed a side of sliced vegetables with hummus and a Dole Whip to drink. It was more than I could eat in one meal, so I enjoyed some of it later. I love to eat on the patio outside, enjoy the music, and someday, I'll get there for a live music performance (which they host regularly). Once, I watched a launch from the patio, great view and a comfortable seat! One wish would be to offer vegan options for substitutes in the smoothies. Honey is a no go for me. I got a berry smoothie once but I was disappointed with no yogurt option and no sweetener... I got only berries, ice, and water :( but I know that it is only a matter of time and availability. Thank you to the owner and employees for providing a much needed haven.

I want to like this place for the atmosphere but that is where it ends. while they have a creative and option robust menu, the staff are too young to pour you anything but water (which they don't). They consistently forget orders and under cook their wood fire pizzas. The soups, salads and sandwiches are great when they aren't 86'd. If you enjoy raw, Ash slathered, over priced pizza that claims to be gourmet, this is your spot. Staff was friendly, nervous and clearly unprepared. This place has a lot of potential, but fails to meet many basic food handling standards. If you're here for live music, eat before hand and enjoy the great selection of drinks they have, that you should be prepared to pour yourself.

The Beach has great ambience, lilies adorn the tables and provide a tropical scent along with the beach/surf memorabilia. The smoothies are very good, I had the peanut butter banana smoothie and it was delicious! The wood fire pizzas take some time to make however, so if you're in a lunch rush, it might be better to get a sandwich or soup here instead. The pizzas are well worth the wait though. It's hard to beat the quality of a wood-fire pizza if you've never had one. They also have a list of yummy specials outside by the entrance. There is outside seating in addition to beers and wines on tap! Though The Beach usually closes at 3pm, you can still have a righteous happy hour on Fridays as they're open till 9pm. They offer some local beverages, vegan dessert, and great choices between salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. Don't miss this hole-in-the-wall gem located in Old Town!
