Rocket And Ruby

Great little place on corner of Castle Street & Lord Lane. Large menu with lots of unusual sharing plates, with touches of eastern european cuisine. We had the special of 3 plates for £13.95 + 1 from main menu. Plenty for 2 of us to share. Food is cooked to order & some take longer to prepare than others so the dishes will come out to you ad hoc but it is okay and they do tell you about this when you order. Has great special on Tues evening which includes bottle of wine. Highly recommended

Sat outside at this little sister of Bacaro and Salt House Tapas. The serving staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, all tapas style, and my favourite was the sweet and sour cauliflower. It was spicy and flavoursome, and went down well with a peach iced tea. 35 quid for two people and drinks...bargain!

Rocket and Ruby was such a surprise. Great setup, great staff, great food, great music, soft classic slightly older top of the charts, excellent wine from Australia - and very clean toilets. Wrote an email to my special friend in London while I was in Rocket and Ruby, saying it's my favourite place in the UK, having been here for 3 odd weeks now. Staff were very attentive, had the bread selection with balsamic vinegar and olive oil, incredibly tasty, and light main course was smoked salmon with avocado mix, beautifully laid out. I must disclose an interest in Vegemite here, which is of course far superior to the Brits' Marmite, if Vegemite was available with smoked salmon and avocado for brekkie, I would be in heaven at this place. But personal preferences aside, I would suggest to the reader to veer less than 300m from the main area, head towards the harbour, so easy. Rocket and Ruby opened last November, and really should be packed. Going back there tomorrow morning to check out their coffee quality.
