July'19 update - new vegan menu introduced...all delicious. Could still do more salads/ whole food plant based. Good gin selection too. 25.08.18 updated 3 to 4 stars - decor updated with new, friendlier and competent management team. However limited vegan options. November 2017 - Local high street pub with decent lunch menu. Spacious and good for kids too. Wheelchair access to rear.

I pop in every couple of weeks for lunch midweek with friends. It's always quiet so no problems getting a table. The food is always good and served in good time, and the place itself is always clean and tidy. The only minor gripe is that as it is quiet, the staff plainly get bored and this reflects in their customer service. They are always polite, but struggle to get up a head of steam to move from their hidey hole table in the corner with their mates to serve at the bar. If the staff were more enthusiastic and customer focused it would have been a five * score.

Nice place had a leaving due for one of our staff had a great night Thursdays rock and roll bingo is a must DJ was rude as all hell bit the place and the bar staff turned that from a 1 star to a 5. Food is above average well worth it if your not sure where to eat. Security on the door all a great laugh nice guys serious faces with serious faces. -_- Had a great time and a night to remember thanks

I popped into the lancer for a drink with my sister and the experience was impecible. The manager Andy is such a nice and genuine person who makes me feel so welcome. If you get the opportunity to get served by this man, it will really make your experience even better. He makes the lancer and is an asset to their team!!
