Dough

Great doughnuts! They remind me of fairground ones - but better. I love simple foods done well and the classic with sugar was just that for me. The biscoff one was a real treat though too. Even better yet they gave me a scoop of ice cream which I shared with my dogs 😅 (not because it wasn’t nice (it was yummy!))

There is a new doughnut place in Leeds, and it is called “Dough”. The competition is tough, and they are following a different strategy as the dough is hot and has all the toppings on the top and not inside. I am considering this new place one of the tops in the city centre with fair pricing and great ingredients. The time will tell if they will last, and honestly, I hope they do and they deserve it. My only issue with the place is that they are not following the exact pricing for pickup and delivery via Uber Eats and Deliveroo. It is a lot cheaper to go there and pick up the doughnuts on your own. So my review is based on the pickup pricing. Expect at least +25% plus delivery fees on the price via a delivery app which from a customer perspective is not fair.

Had a great time at Dough! Ordered a pair of bubble waffle wraps (Berry special and Rainbow) and they were delicious. The sweet ice cream paired with the slightly salty and fluffy waffle was wonderful. They were made freshly for us which took about 10min. While we waited, they offered us a free sugar donut! And I think that alone is a reason why you should visit this establishment. I have had many "artisanal" donuts which are just trying too hard. This one simple donut, had a great sweet/salt balance and I was so happy I got to try it. I will definitely be back to try all their other flavours! 2nd visit: gave their mixed donuts a try (lemon, berry, nut, and rainbow). Once again, another lovely experience. This consolidates my opinion that their donuts are the best and I cannot go back to anything else. I think the lemon flavour is the best one (so far), as it's a great balance of sweet and salty.

Overall great taste and great combination of flavours to choose from. The variety mix of 4 cost £7, not sure why anyone would pay £5 for just plain sugar ring doughnuts. Ideally it would be better to have 5 doughnuts for that kind of price (£7). To sustain as a business and to standout it has got a long way to go. Only time will tell. Their vanilla ice cream is freshly made, it was good mix of hot and cold with the doughnuts.
