The Radish

If 'salad' makes you think of a bit of limp lettuce and half a tomato, think again. A salad box from the Radish has probably upwards of 50 ingredients, and all of them delicious. I can't get enough of them. Never was much of a salad person before, but I am actually addicted to these. Just wish the place was open later than 4pm so I could get them more often! There's also other food, plus a good range of hot and cold drinks including herbal teas. It's not exclusively vegetarian (there's some great smoked salmon), but the majority of the menu is veggie, with plenty of vegan options, as well as gluten free etc. Can get a bit crowded at lunchtime, but everything on the menu can be made to take away (which is cheaper too). Fast service, friendly staff. Far and away my favorite place for lunch in Lancaster.

Ashamed to confess that I need to pay a visit to The Radish once a week. It's not my fault: the crumbly pastry of their tartelettes, the smooth flat whites, the juicy toasted spinach, tomatoes and halloumi ciabatta sandwiches. I am only human after all I believe this place caters mainly for vegans and vegetarians (with other delicate tummies in between) but when I am there, my carnivore self doesn't even miss meat. Yep, that's how good it is. Eating your five portions of greens has never tasted better 😍
