I recently attended the Hilsa Festival organized by The Kitchen - Lake Town Bengali's have always shared an eternal bond with Hilsa, me being no exception. There is around 10-12 Hilsa delicacies that you can gorge on here and you won't be disappointed with any. All the dishes have been prepared with utmost expertise and to perfection. Lets take a look at what all is being served. 1) SMOKY MOONG DAL ILISH MACHER MATHA DIA (350 bucks) - Who doesn't love Ilish Macher Matha diye Moong dal. A very flavorful dal preparation with the head of Hilsa is a compulsion in Bangali houses this season. 2) TRADITIONAL MURI GHONTO WITH HEAD OF HILSA (375 bucks) - Muri Ghonto prepared again with the head of Hilsa. The spices have blended so well with the dish that the taste is heavenly. 3) INDIAN SPICES RUBBED FRIED HILSA (475 bucks) - Fried Hilsa (Ilish mach Bhaja) is a typical bliss. The oil in which it is fried is also consumed with rice. Ilish mach has been marinated with spices and deep fried in Sorshe-Tel. 4) ILISH MACHER BHAPA LAU PATA DIYE (535 bucks) - The heavenly Hilsa Bhapa is a must try in this place. The fish has been baked with Sorshe Narkol paste in Lau Pata. 5) POSTO DIA ILISH(545 bucks) - Here the curry has been made with lots of posto bata. Posto is a favorite and when it is used in making Hilsa gravy the taste is blissful. 6) DOI DIA ILISH CURRY (535 bucks) - Typical Ilish curry made with Doi and tastes good. 7) SHORSHE NARKEL BATA DIA ILISH MACHER JHOL (529 bucks) - An all time favourite. Hilsa cooked in thick gravy of Sorshe Narkel which is heavenly. 8) ILISHER JHOL ALOO BEGUN DIA (539 bucks) - The less spicy Ilish gravy prepared with Aloo and Begun. 9) AAM SORSHE ILISH (549 bucks) - Ilish gravy prepared in Sorshe gravy with the flavor of Aam is a new dish which is a must try again. 10) BORA DIYE ILISH MACHER TEL JHAL (525 bucks) - This is my favorite from all the dishes. Lots of Ilish Dim (eggs) have been used to prepare this dish. It is a spicy dish with Ilish eggs as well as Dim wall Ilish pieces. 11) ILISH MACH DIYE BANGLADESHI KHICHURI (450 bucks) - Khichuri prepared with the head of Hilsa in pure Sorshe tel. The aroma of the Khichuri and its taste is breath taking. 12) ILISHER BIRIYANI (499 bucks) - The taste is just so good. A highly recommended dish from my side. 13) CHOCOLATE PHUCHKA -Phuchkas coated with Belgian Chocolate both from inside and ouside. Cream is stuffed inside the Phuchka and served with Chocolate sauce. This is just breathtaking and no-one should give this a miss. We were also served Chocolate Pan and there couldn't have been a better way to end this sumptuous meal. Rush to this place and gorge into these Ilish delicacies.

Awesome... Words are less to describe it better. Nice cozy ambience. Very helpful and nice service by the butler and the waiter. Reasonable pricing. Great and mouth watering tasty food. At the end they served us Pan as mouth freshner. Coated with chocolate and sweet beads. A 10 star to the overall experience. Thank you The Kitchen Team. Really enjoyed being at your restaurant. The quantity of the food was also nice. With 1 plate of peas palao 2 people can have belly full. Oh forgot to mention a soft music being played. Since its Independence week hence they had Vaande Maataram being played. Next time I visit will surely try the chocolate phucka from the desert menu.

A new place. But it is good in decor and design and style. There are many options in the menu. However, food is expensive, and quantity is comparatively less. The place does target sophisticated crowd. Hence, perhaps the cost. The food tastes good. Though not exceptionally great. We ordered baked fish. Taste was pretty good. But expected a quicker service. Though hoe that service time reduces as more days pass by. All in all a good place. A nice and pretty new place to try out..

Good place. It's a new place so everything seemed clean and tidy. The people were extremely well behaved. The taste and quantity of food can be made better. I felt the taste was not something out of the box. maybe I will give them some time and visit the restaurant again after 2 or 3 months to comment again. Overall a nice place to try variety of food. A must visit place if u wanted to try a new place with ossam ambience.
