Caliente

I had wanted to come to Caliente the last few times we came to Tahoe because it has a nice looking atmosphere when you drive by. The restaurant is very cute inside, and has nice outdoor seating. They also have a rooftop deck, but it was closed when we came. We came shortly after they opened for lunch on a saturday. There were only two other tables occupied when we arrived. The server was ok...he seemed a little shy maybe. My Fiance ordered the taquitos, and I ordered the taco salad. It took quite a while to receive the food after ordering...maybe about 20-30 mins. My fiance wasn't very impressed with his taquitos. My Taco Salad was good, but most of the lettuce was wilted and looked a bit old. Initially I thought it must have wilted when they placed the heated chicken over it, but it was only the stuff at the bottom that was wilted, as though they tried to hide it at the bottom and put the fresh stuff at the top. Either that or it sat for a while under heat or something. Everything tasted fine, I was just put off by how old the greens looked. Heads up...$10 for a corona here...We thought that was way ridiculous. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. I wouldn't be opposed to coming again to see if we have a better experience.

Upscale, Mexican restaurant with natural and real real cocktails and food offerings. Caution: Lake Tahoe has become somewhat of an overcrowded destination, so make sure you make a reservation or you may not be seated. If you’re looking for a great food, and want something nicer than a Taqueria, this place is among the best in the Tahoe. The food here is what you would find a typical sit down upscale, Mexican restaurant. There are burritos w, fajitas, tacos, and delicious plates such as marinated short ribs. The chips and salsa cost money but after five dollars they are unlimited. They are fresh and very spicy. The location here is also pretty impressive. It is a Choot story restaurant, and the second story has a dedicated bar and server table you have use of the lake from the second story and because the bars close drinks come fast. As long as you have a reservation or come during a non-busy hour, you will likely get a seat up here. The parking was easy to find on the street and there are nearby streets to park on, the servers were really friendly and Jung and willing to assist, the restrooms are clean, and everything else was wonderful, I recommend this, if you are looking for a great Mexican restaurant in The Lake, Tahoe, Area.

Fast seating without a reservation on a summer Saturday evening. Attentive server staff. Prices a bit high to me, but it's a tourist area so likely average for the vicinity. Food took about 20 minutes from order to table. We had chicken molé enchiladas, shrimp fajitas and chicken fajitas. The portion size for the fajitas was large, but had to ask for extra tortillas. Fajitas made those who ordered the molé jealous... They were tasty!! The molé was mild, but filling.

Such a delicious spot is Lake Tahoe! Great atmosphere, great service, and delicious food! A bit pricey but it’s expected! Very vegan/vegetarian friendly! I ordered the wet burrito, with veggies instead of meat and no cheese or sour cream. I also ordered salsa and chips as an appetizer! It was a super filling dinner and it’s beautiful since it’s outdoor seating area! We ended up going two nights in a row of our trip, will definitely back next time we’re in tahoe!
