Queen's Cuisine

Came in just before heading out for the airport. Quaint little restaurant that is definitely inconspicuous at first. My wife had the pork chop, red beans and rice, and collard greens. I had the catfish, Mac 'n cheese, and collard greens. Red beans had just the right amount of spice and the pork chop was rich and juicy and needed no sauce to taste great. The catfish was also great. Had a light but flavorful breading like any good fried fish should have. Portions were huge, but I willed myself to finish. The owners were right inside and very welcoming. Made you feel just like you were eating home cooked soul food. Also had a strong local presence, which is a good sign for any restaurant, especially a small one. Great people and great food. A must visit if you are looking for food on your way out of New Orleans.

OMG! This is what I'm talking about! Soul food at its finest. The Queen has outdone herself. Could easily feed two people with Her Majesty's stuffed bell pepper. But I ain't gonna share, nuh uh... And her greens are unbelievable. I will never again trouble myself by cooking my own mustard greens, my favorite vegetable. Not when I can get them this good and at such a bargain. Got to go eat some more, the smell is killing me!!

Absolutley excellent soul food. The food tasted great. My hubby enjoyed his. The Obama drink was very good. The stuffed bellpepper was stuffed and baked to perfection. The seafood stew and yams and greens were like granny's. She was pleasant and thanked us for visiting. It was our first time and it felt like we had been there many times before.

Greeted by Ms. Queen herself, you know you're where the locals go. However, it's close enough to the airport that those flying into town stand a chance of lucking into finding this hot spot for homemade soul food.
