Had to wait 20 mins for the fish because there were many orders before mine but the fish was delicious when it came , peas good also. Not so keen on the chips but got a good helping and price was very reasonable so I'd recommend it. Staff pleasant and friendly.

I haven't been to a sit-down chip shop for decades but I saw this while was up there working and thought I'd like to try it. I had a Chip Butty and a can of pop for £5 and it was great. So easy to drive by looking for some modern fast food chain when this is all you need.

Absolutely top-quality fish and chips. Opened in 1978 by the Stan and Hilda Ogden from Cornation Street . First visit. Will be back if in the area

Whilst staying at a nearby hotel, found this gem of a place. oustanding value and very tasty. Would not hestitate to recommend. Fish was big and had to lleave some of the chips too much for me👍👍👍

I visited Mother Hubbard’s on Friday. I had Haddock special, chips and mushy peas.
The Haddock was amazing as was the batter.
The only downside was the wooden fork, that was as useful as a chocolate fire guard.

We visit here quite often because of the quality of their fish and chips. We have been to other places to try too, around Huddersfield and other nearby towns and none match this chippy.
I now have just a fish butty and pinch some of hubby's chips as there's that many in a portion of regular fish & chips, that I struggle eating so many.
If you ever come to Huddersfield you must try here. They are reasonably priced too.
There's free parking on the forecourt to the premises and also on main road adjacent. It also has a disabled access entrance and toilet. They have an app too where you can order in advance for collection or delivery and you can also sit in their restaurant at no extra cost.
