Siam Orchid Thai

I have been going to this restaurant for about 4 years. I had not been for about 2 months. I went tonight and was very disappointed. The service was good but the food was very ordinary. Not the authentic Thai flavor. The restaurant was empty and even the takeaway was very quiet. I take it they have changed hands? Pity.

Tried again 30/12 Coconut Prawn no good, it is old, not crunch at all. Honey Lemon Duck was a real disappointment! Pineapple Fried Rice taste good. Next time will only order fried rice! $$ Only tried 3 dishes. Fried rice taste pretty good. Tom yum soup was a bit tasteless. The grill beef was disappointed. Looking forward to try another dishes again soon!

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our takeaway meals. The Panang was made on beef when my partner ordered chicken (he doesn't eat red meat) and there were no vegetables in the dish at all, not even 1. When I called about the mistake (didn't realise until I waa home & putting on his plate) the lady over the phone said we could have a credit for next time. Figured sure that's okay, we'll just share the vegan green curry. Ohmygosh, it was up there with the worst green curries I've ever had. I order vegan everywhere & there's never an issue with flavour and it was confirmed before ordering it that vegan was something they could accommodate. It was bland, lacked spiciness, the tofu was hard and rubbery and it was more a yellow colour than green. Highly disappointing for over $60 meal. The spring rolls were delicious, best we've had in a long time! The fried rice was decent, but not a show stopper although appreciated with the other issues we at least had something edible. This was meant to be a treat for our anniversary (our usual 2 places were closed) as my partner is in isolation so our dinner date plans at a fancy restaurant were cancelled. I usually like to give the benefit of trying a place more than once and updating my reviews accordingly, but fear we may not bother with this place to be honest.

It is BYO - (bottle shop very near) It has free parking. We had curry puffs/roti/parcels/chicken pad thai. The entrees were very nice - no peanut sauce with roti (maybe it is an extra). The Pad Thai was sweet so it was hard to eat too much. They provided takeaway containers for the left overs. The place had a nice outdoor area (covered with fairy lights).The indoors comfortable. Toilets outside with a key. It is a suburban Thai - maybe other mains would be less sweet.
