Cothran's Bakery

Conveniently located. Small clean bakery full of fresh made filled, covered and glazed donuts, prepackaged cupcakes, candies and cookies. Beautiful cakes ready made. I just popped in to grab a few, the chocolate filled are heavenly, and the cream filled are a great choice too. Very fresh, excellent texture, melt in your mouth wonderful. The staff was prompt and courteous and the prices were competitive.

Worst experience I’ve had with a bakery. First off, it was a train wreck trying to figure out if they would be able to even make the cake or not. I’m finally told that the Gadsden location can make it & deliver it to Boaz. So, I go to Boaz to pick it up before my daughters birthday party & I was already running late so I didn’t get the best look at it before leaving the store. But I was not happy when I got home & seen that I paid $85 for this mess. Which, I had to prepay before they would even make the cake. First pic was the inspiration pic. Granted, they told me it wouldn’t look EXACTLY like the picture but I didn’t think it would look this bad. The writing itself is embarrassing. I’m so done with this place. I’ll never do business here again. EDIT: Apparently, I was wrote about the price of the cake. After checking my bank statement, almost $100 for this cake. 😡

I was sent to pick up a pastel green baby shower cake on Saturday. A lime green cake reading “Happy Birthday” was placed in front of me. After explaining to the young man working behind the counter that the cake was not right, he went and got the lady who took the order. I explained to her that an email was sent with pictures and instructions, along with 3 different phone conversations on how the cake was to be done. This woman informed that Cothran’s does not read the emails and that they only use email for pictures for style and color.. which is incorrect considering the lime green cake placed on the counter, versus the pastel green that was ordered. She was very rude and instead of staying to fix her mistake, she passed it off to someone who obviously also did not look at the email or have any idea of what the cake should have been. As she walked out to leave for the day, she was sure to ask me again that it did not need to say “Happy Birthday”, to which I reminded her of the three phone conversations AND the emailed instructions. Her reply, again, was “We don’t read the emails for instructions, only pictures”. I mentioned the THREE PHONE CONVERSATIONS, AGAIN. To which I received a “People make mistakes.” as she walked out for the day. I never once got an apology from her and she did not offer to fix the cake until I asked her what they could do to fix it. The rest of the staff was great and very pleasant. I’m upset that this one woman is the reason I won’t be using Cothran’s again. I think her name was Vicky, maybe?

After ordering a birthday cake for my mother I was not let down with the results in the cake tasted delicious. They have extremely good donuts and cupcakes as well.
