Lighthouse

It’s usually the little spots that never fail to amaze and this is one of them. We came here on a Thursday afternoon and it was relatively empty at first. The server was quick to our table and took the drink and appetizer order. We ordered the plantains with guacamole. I was surprised to only see four fried plantains with the mountain of guacamole that came. The taste of both, plantains and guacamole was great, I would have expected a few more plantains though, as we had half a bowl of guacamole left after finishing the plantains. The Bandeja Paisa was fantastic. The avocado was fresh, soft, vibrant green, and didn’t have a single brown spot. The steak was nice and tender while the pork rind was crispy. For once I was able to enjoy the entire pork rind compared to other places where it’s like rubber. Biggest winner were the beans. Doesn’t matter where I go, they usually have no flavor, are watery and taste fresh out of the can. The beans I experienced here had great flavor and it actually seemed like someone took the time to taste it and adjust seasonings. Gave it four stars because our table was dirty and the seat was sticky.

The food my hubby and I ordered was really good. My son had the chicken wings, it was so plain no flavor at all. Waitress seemed like she had a problem everytime you asked her for something. The waiter, he was more nice about helping with what was needed. On the way to pay I slipped on a puddle of water ( I'm currently 28 weeks pregnant) everyone saw that I fell, the warning sign was like 6 feet away from the puddle. None of the waiters asked if I was okay, or needed anything. With tears in my eyes from the scare they just took the money with the receipt. After they saw my husband wouldn't stop hovering me, checking to see if I was fine. They finally asked if I was ok, if I needed water, or to seat down. I just said I was fine, because it was obvious they didn't care. They were trying to give us our change back, we didn't even care at the time we just told them to keep it.. it was a good 11 to 12$ tip, not deserved at all. Love the food I chose, but service needs to be a lot better.
