After a long day driving across northern MN, we found this nice little frozen custard shop across from our hotel. The daily special was Key Lime, so a triple scoop in a dish satisfied me well. Be prepared to wait in a line, but that always tells me the quality make it worth the wait. Would stop in again when in the area. Why go to the DQ down the road when you can get the real product here for the same price.

Homemade frozen custard just like my mom used to make! Thick and creamy - so delicious that on my second visit I got a dish of plain vanilla just to enjoy the rich flavor! I wish I lived closer than St Paul, or perhaps it's good that I don't...

Love love love this place! I miss it when we leave. The second that I told my kids that we were heading back to Ely this summer, my daughter's response was "Oh boy! We can go to Red Cabin Custard every day!" 😂 The creme brulee is my favorite, with cheesecake a close second!

Went here while staying in Ely before our Boundary Waters trip. I had the blueberry shortcake sundae and it was very yummy! The two people who work there are very friendly and provided great service. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone! 😁

Their custard is really creamy. I had the vanilla and my husband had the flavor of the day which was black raspberry. They only accept cash or check. No credit cards

Yummy custard-style ice cream! Friendly staff and pretty fast service. Plenty of menu options, including some fun creations like a fresh-made ice cream cookie sandwich and the PMS sundae (chocolate ice cream with a brownie and hot fudge).
I wanted the blueberry shortcake sundae, but they were out of shortcake (it was nearly September, so they were about to close for the winter). I had a blueberry sundae instead, and I definitely enjoyed it -- lots of blueberries and just enough syrup. My wife got a black raspberry shake (black raspberry was the flavor of the day) and had them mix in hot fudge ... which turned out amazing!

Delicious ice cream and shakes. They only make three flavors of ice cream a day which makes the indecisive ones have fewer choices to choose from. Owners were friendly and helpful.
