Lucy's Kitchen

I love trying new restaurants so had to try something new coming out of Austin city limits. Off the beaten path is Lucy’s Kitchen. Good food and good prices. Service was great, too. Coffee was a little bitter for my taste but nothing cream and sugar can’t fix! Delicious pancakes and the skillet was tasty. The place could be a little cleaner, though. There were only 2 waitresses but they stayed on top of things. Would try them again!

WOW!! Great, home style food. One of the quirkiest menu options was “Cheesy Chicken”… OMG!! A tender, tasty, thin chicken breast fried in an amazing batter, then queso and green onions on top. With Crispy onion rings and green beans. Just wow! The wife got the Grilled mushroom Swiss chicken with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Super tender and juicy! We saw a wicked looking Chicken Fried Steak abs Chicken Fried Chicken come out… will have to try that next time. The pies looked great too, but not enough room this time. Definitely a must stop place. Not for the decor… but the local, home made flavors and neighborly conversation.

Late fall - a Sunday around 1230 finds Lucy’s full of locals chatting about the weather and whatnot while enjoying terrific hometown cafe food. The lime green walls are decorated with eclectic Americana/and farm house; and the atmosphere is super friendly. So glad our motorcycles led us here today on our way to discover the largest Dime in a Box in Dime Box, Texas. We had the nachos, double meat burger and the grilled chicken breast platter. They were fantastic! And don’t forget to choose from among their many pies!

I moved to Elgin just before the Covid shutdown, so am still making my rounds trying out new to me food places. After reading comments, I had to visit Lucy's to try the Cheesy Chicken with okra & baked potato. I was NOT disappointed! I ordered for take out due to running errands & had to add some cheesecake also to help balance it all out. Definitely will make this a regular eating place.

I would give 4* 's but the wait was entirely too long. It seemed like they had forgotten us. Young lady who served coffee never returned to update us or anything. Server was also cashiering so not sure if they were short staffed. I also don't know if we were ignored because of color as the patrons who were there or came in were Caucasian. Great breakfast, server was nice when he finally came by. Really a great hole in the wall type of place. Prices were very reasonable. Blueberry pancakes were awesome and veggie omelette was not greasy. The chicken and waffles were really good too.I will stop for lunch or dinner on my next visit to Austin to try other menu items and rate the service once more.

My boyfriend and I come here at least once a week, I get the same thing while my boyfriend tries new stuff, every time I get my food, absolutely amazing, the consistency is spot on. All the new items my boyfriend gets are always delicious! Service and prices are the best in town! Alvie (sorry for the misspelling) is by far the best server/order taker/ cashier. He goes out of his way for guests and makes the atmosphere like home. Best restaurant since city cafe!!
