Denny's

Decided to continue eating healthy into the new year and wanted a salad. My previous dining experiences and ordering salads from Dennis recalls nice proportional salads that were fresh. I decided to order the Cobb due to the assorted toppings (grape tomatoes, avocados, bacon, cheese, and eggs). I ordered mine with grilled chicken. I was not disappointed (unlike the chicken at Sage Cafe at Barona the previous night), the grilled chicken was hot and juicy, the avocado was amazingly fresh (like no oxidation at all) and cold, the cheese appeared to be freshly grated (not sticking together in clumps, as you would from a bag of shredded cheese), the hard boiled eggs was cooked perfectly, and the tiny grape tomatoes were juicy and had no bitterness. The place was understaffed, but Hugo was a great server, kept his cool, had a sense of humor, and really stayed on top of all the customers. He's a rare find. I highly recommend this Dennys for the food and the superior service from Hugo.

The service is a bit slow, due to staffing issues. Denny's is known for his 24-hour service, arriving one morning I was told by staff that they would not be open until 7:00 a.m. because they did not have a cook available. Understandably within pandemic and the economy that is present state that things are going to be a bit more challenging finding the new norm, but I'm easy so I just went to the nearest Denny's.

The one on Main is not as bad as the one on Mollison but it's close!! We went to Main St today and they weren't that busy but after waiting for awhile we had to ask for someone to take our drink order. Then we had to ask for someone to take our food order. We had to get our own ketchup and the guy never came by to ask how we were doing. Then insult to injury when I asked for an iced tea to go he charged me for it. So I paid $6 for 2 glasses of tea. We didn't tip and we won't return.

I come to this Dennys every Monday with my senior mom. It's not busy usually Monday mornings ans everything is good but when I get a host named Hugo! He's is not attentive, doesn't offer refills on coffee. Doesn't ask if we need anything else. Only time he comes back is with the check. He ruins my experience.
