What a disappointment! Atmosphere was good, presentation was fabulous, food was average, portions were laughable; and our service was AWFUL! $19 for a beet salad that consisted of one slice of beet, and two cubes of pickled beet with one spinach leaf. Calamari that was cut so fine you could have missed it-3 bites, with one prawn. And the tuna-that I had looked so forward to-tasteless, mushy, without seasoning-perhaps if the server had ever come to ask us how our food was-we could have commented; requested some salt or pepper to season; shared our disappointment. But no-a $40 entree and the server never came to ask if everything was prepared properly, if we needed anything; if we enjoyed anything; not once while we were eating our appetizer, or our salad, or our dinner. Her tip reflected her poor service-i thought -at least -the service would be appropriate to the prices. NOT! The only reason for the two stars-is that the bacon jam with the bannock bread was delicious; and the sea bass that my spouse had for dinner was superb. too bad about the rest of it, A server can change and influence your experience, ours needed to be booted to the street.

Went for our anniversary. Atmosphere is great, love the table "bread". I found appetizers unappealing (personal preference). Waiter didn't inform us of the feature app which I would have liked. Entree pork tenderloin was bland and boring, disappointed. Desserts were great though. Waiter was very disengaged. For the price point I would expect a pro waiter, was disappointed there too.

Characters offers fine dining in a comfortable, elegant setting. The staff were friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the Tasters Menu which provided a means to sample many items from the complete menu. Pricing is on the higher scale but all food was excellently prepared and ample portion sizes ensured we were more than full at completion of the meal.

My fine dining restaurant of choice. As a veggie eater, this restaurant actually has proper vegetarian options! Menu changes often so no reason to comment on food. Patio is surprisingly nice during our few summer months. Service and staff is top notch. If you’re a veghead and looking for a fancy meal with friends who eat animals this is an excellent place to please all.
