Dragon Palace

Not ordering from here again. I ordered 3 large shrimp and broccoli from this location, our family has been coming here for 30 years. The 3 were cross contaminated with beef pieces. I do not belive this was on purpose and it was an accident. But when I called to complain, the owner wanted me to bring back the food because he didn't believe me that they were contaminated. I told him I would text him photos, but he doesn't have internet. Photos attached. Be aware if you are vegetarian or have other dietary restrictions.

It was recommended to me by some foreign students in the program, who were visiting from China. When we finished our masters program, a bunch of us went out to lunch with our favorite professor, who got his Ph.D. in San Francisco. He said that this restaurant was on par with the best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco. I simply felt it was the best Chinese restaurant in New Jersey.

This place is close to me and I really enjoy the Sichuan food here. It is much less Americanized than typical Chinese takeout- you can really taste the Sichuan peppercorns and Doubanjiang and other Chinese ingredients they use here. So far I have tried: Cumin Lamb, Three Pepper Chicken, Mapo Tofu, and Fish Filet in Hot Oil. They were all excellent, the meat was tender and generous, I loved the spiciness, and I especially loved the flavor in the chicken and fish dishes. Each dish is 2 servings for me. Both times I’ve gotten food here, I called and ordered for pick-up. The food was made promptly and the man working at the counter was friendly, so I’m happy with the service too. I took a picture of the Chinese menu. I can neither speak nor read Chinese, so I translated it at home. Next time I think I will point to the ones I want on that menu so I can try some more dishes not listed on the English menu. The only reasons why I am not giving 5 stars are these: the dishes are a bit expensive compared to other Sichuan Chinese places. If the prices were more affordable, I would no doubt come all the time. Because they’re not, this is a place I go every once in a while. Additionally, I wish I got more rice with my meals- I always have to make another batch at home to finish the leftovers.

By far one of the best Chinese food I have ever had. The hosts are very friendly and they will give you great suggestions. You have to try cumin lamb, fish in hot oil. The most recent discovery is lamb in hot pot, I am not sure about the name but show them the picture below. It was delicious. Lots if options for vegetarians too. Large quantities, one entree is good for two.
