Karoo Restaurant

We visit the area every year and wanted to try dinner here, but we never did until this year. We should have come earlier. Good choices for vegetarians and meat-eaters also. Diverse menu, but likely a few things to try for less adventurous diners also. The best thing I liked was the atmosphere inside....just different and a more 'fun' look and feel to it. If you are on the fence about giving it a try, I'd say go for it. Glad we did.

Amazing, all around. Not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars on all the reviews! We eat out a lot and enjoy a wide variety of types of foods, and this is the best food we've had in a while, hands down. Came on vacation, and we were ready for something different, not just the same old clam shack/lobster thing... and they totally delivered. Wide variety in the menu, lots of GF and veggie/vegan options, good sized but not ridiculous portions. The food was well cooked, great flavoring without overpowering, and came out quickly. Especially great was the peanut soup, snail Rangoon, the lamb stew melted in the mouth, the pork shank was falling off the bone and perfectly moist, the power salad was filling but refreshing and tangy, and the special dessert was out of this world, a lavender/coconut panna cotta. In fact, everything was outstanding! The atmosphere was fun, a lovely outdoor space and porch seating are available, beautiful gardens out front. The service was good, not exceptional but totally solid, we were very happy with it. Karoo, please open up another spot out in Western Mass! 😍

After I had to postpone my South Africa travel plans, I learned about this place and it was a very good decision to give it a try. My entire extended family that was a bit skeptical of traveling 40 minutes from South Yarmouth for a dinner, was absolutely charmed by the place - from its visual side to amazing service and even more amazing food. All appetizers and entrees were great (pair with Pinotage for the best experience), non-alcoholic “mocktailes” were a nice addition to the menu for those who don’t drink alcohol. As for dessert, Malva pudding is a must-try. Will be back for sure!

Food is amazing. Our server Rachel is super friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. She's very enthusiastic and seems to love what she does, that is, helping diners enjoy their meals and the time they are at Karoo. We will definitely go back and hope to get Rachel again. The bartender is busy but has everything under control. She's pleasant and works well in a fast paced environment.

My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant thinking this would be something different. But we found a lovely atmosphere and incredible food far beyond our expectations. We started with ribs at $2 a rib so we could try a few different types and they were the best either of us had had before. But we wouldn't have ordered them at all if not for the choice of just buying a few (glad we did). Then we both had beautiful curried dishes and finished sharing the malva desert which was delicious! So good we have looked up how to make the dessert at home. The best part was that everything was similar but totally new to anything we had had before. If we here on the cape another night we would have tried some more from their menu tomorrow. Couldn't recommend it enough! Great service too! 5 stars!
