Roost

We went to Roost last night for dinner. The food was excellent. We did bring our kids but ate right at 5 as we expected it to be quiet so not to interrupt other diners in case our boys 8 and 11 got chatty. Our waitress was very nice and quick! There is no kids menu (we knew before we went as I always look online) but our kids prefer adult plates anyways. We had the Brie appetizer which honestly the star was the “toast” - it was so good!!! The Shrimp tempura was crispy and with the right amount of heat. The chicken reminded me of my favorite restaurant in Manchester ( Cotton) but this was superior. The braised short ribs looked small - but I could only finish one !!! My son loved the Salmon and it was cooked perfectly.

The two stars are because I appreciated the great service, and the French Onion Soup was okay. We got our meals rather quickly which was awesome, but I took one bite of the rice and it was ice cold. Took one bite of my duck and it was cooked all the way through, but cold. I can usually stomach a meal if I'm hungry enough, but I was starving and couldn't eat this. My husband's lamb was the same story, he was served rotten food. The bartender was great, super nice and understanding, he made it right and we made sure that he knew that we knew that it wasn't his fault. Maybe this was just an "off night" but it was a terrible meal. Probably won't be back.

Food was amazing, atmosphere is great, and waitstaff even better! We were recommended to give it a try and we were so happy we did! Sarah M, was our waitress and she was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I ordered the mussels for an app - holy moly so good. Sirloin steak and fried chicken for dinner - both outstanding. Cream brule and apple cobbler for desert - wow! It was a very comfortable spot to stop and eat considering we had two toddlers in tow, with friends. The kids enjoyed themselves being able to look out the window and wave, and they had space to move around without interrupting others. We will definitely be back.
