I tried the breakfast plate (casa miento), fish soup, pupusas, enchiladas and steak. Everything was seasoned perfectly. The picture is of my breakfast plate which had 2 eggs over easy, crema, cheese, rice n beans, and plantains. The cheese is super salty so little pieces pair perfectly with everything else. This is a superior breakfast for sure! They give you a lot of food and the price is not too expensive compared to other places in the area.

El Chalate is a lunch staple for me in the Denver area. How many places can you get a filling authentic meal for less than $10? Seems like those places are disappearing quickly from the Denver food scene while Chalate continues to be a working person’s restaurant where you can order pupusas, tacos, enchiladas, chile relleno, burritos, and more. My go to is always the #1 combination which you can see in the photo. I love being able to get the chile relleno, beef burrito, and cheese enchilada in one order. The flavoring of the ground beef is very unique and savory. I also love the cheese they use inside their enchiladas. Muy bueno! This is a great affordable spot in East Denver for Mexican and Salvadoran food - check it out!

Do not listen to the reviews saying they aren’t worth the wait! Everything is made fresh and pupusas take a while to make and are delicious. The owner works the floor herself and their food is authentic!

Absolutely loved the food, we got 4 pupupas and fried plantains with cream and it was all delicious! The salsa was one of the best I’ve had at a pupupa shop! The best part is that it all came out to $15 dollars for all that food and great take out service! High recommend this spot!

My boyfriend just got a kidney transplant and I came here to get him his first meal after surgery. We got pupusas, plantains, and tamarindo. It was all so good! It hit the spot for his after surgery meal. The staff was also very nice and the pricing is very fair for the area. Highly recommend.
