Carson's Ribs

We haven’t been to Carson’s since the eighties, during which time we ate there frequently. For Christmas Eve, I decided to order the rib dinner for four with an addition of the chopped liver. It all was delicious, and we will definitely be back. The ordering and pick-up was seamless, the heating instructions easy to follow. I also want to compliment the staff I saw for wearing masks, which represents responsible management.

I have been going to Carson’s all my life. However, I mostly carry out. When I decided to dine in the restaurant, I was so delighted by the entire experience. The food was delicious. The portions felt more generous than carry out. The highlight of the experience was our server, David. His timing to check on us and take our order was spot on. He was friendly and fun. Ask to sit in David’s section when you’re there.

This place has it all! Plus, at the Deerfield location, parking is a breeze. We got the full slab of ribs and the rib tips (pro tip: rib tips are not on the dine-in menu, but you can ask for them). Everything about this meal was perfect, with one small exception: the fries weren't hot, and they were too crispy. BUT the ribs were lip-smacking tender and delicious. The rib tips were out-of-this-world meaty and sweet. The slaw is amazing, and the au gratin potatoes are as good as ever. Be sure to start your meal with the cornbread. You don’t want to miss it! Thank you Carson’s for the great food, amazing hospitality and attention to detail! I put on my reservation that we were going to Carson’s in honor of my grandpa who has just recently passed. It was his favorite restaurant in Chicago and he had planned on visiting with his granddaughter but did not get the chance. The managers saw this note in my reservation and gave us the sweetest gift in his honor. Not only were we impressed with the attention to detail but the food amazing and very affordable considering the quality and atmosphere of the restaurant! Thank you for such a great memory we were able to share as a family!

Carson's has become a frequent dinner spot for us. We usually sit in the newly remodeled "north" bar (the one with the fireplace). It's bright & airy and near the exit. The food is always amazing (outstanding creamy garlic salad dressing, which is difficult to find!), delicious French onion soup, fabulous salads, and the exceptional drinks, thanks to the best bartender around - David C. Outstanding customer service, always attentive, consistently proactive, great sense of humor and makes the best hurricanes and French martinis around! All around good guy. Stop by for a drink with David and stay for dinner. You won't be disappointed.

The food is always good as are the drinks. But I know what I want. The garbage salad and their anchovy dressing are fantastic. I love the chopped liver. Not free like it was 30 years ago, what is??? Old fashions are wonderful. Steaks are good. I actually don’t like the ribs, but everyone has a style they like. We didn’t have a reservation so they sat us at the bar. They were very nice at trying to get us in. The place was empty but we were there right before it would be busy. The bartender was great. The food came before we had a chance to take a sip of the drink. Maybe we were rushed but we didn’t mind. The manager came over to see how we were doing. Very nice touch. You could tell others were regulars, as I would be if I lived close.
