Boiling Pot

I ordered "the special" mild, and told the waiter to leave out the clams two or three times. The "mild" was hotter than pepper spray, and there were clams in my bowl. I ended up walking to the Co-op and getting something to eat there. The restaurant looked nice and the staff were friendly and polite. That's why I gave them two stars instead of one.

- Background: I have eaten here about 15 - 20 times. - A good selection of hot pot options to choose from. Bowl size is good, but the bowl is only moderately filled. My personal favorite is the Curry Fish Ball pot. I have not tried the appetizers or drinks though. - Service is mediocre, but mostly from the male servers. Many of the male servers talk to each other instead of looking around. Multiple times I have not been asked for my order & was just stared at for my order. The server with the tattoos is an exception though - he is very responsive and nice. Most of the female workers actually respond though. - Expected wait time following an order seems to range anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes. - On one occasion where I had tipped, I checked my credit card to see that I had been charged $3 extra from what I had originally tipped. I called for an apology, but I have never gotten a refund for the extra charged tip. - The restroom is clean.

LOVE this place. One of my favorite hotpot places. I always get the spicy beef, oh so tasty! You can adjust the spiciness level for any menu item: none/not spicy, mild, medium, spicy, and flaming hot. Now, this place is one of those places whose spiciness is to be taken seriously. Meaning, the spiciness levels are the Asian and not the American spiciness levels (duh, it's an Asian restaurant). So, spicy means it's spicy, and flaming hot means oh-my-god-give-me-a-glass-of-milk-I'm-choking spicy. I eat a lot of spicy food and their spicy level gets me going. A friend of mine had their flaming hot and that was too much even for me (but this friend is crazy so he could eat the flaming hot lol). You should try their sweet black tea that comes with the meal during lunch time--it's good and so is the black milk tea. All in all, recommended!

The widows are tinted so it always looks dark from the outside like it's closed, but inside it bright and inviting, and the temperature is just right. Everything was good. I never want squid or octopus because I hate the texture but I tried my partner's fried calamari appetizer and the texture was perfect! (and it was seasoned well.) We split the vegetarian with several extras and some meat on the side. It was rather good and So filling. Next time I think I'll get the seafood one with the crab and shrimp in the shell :)

The food was delicious. My only complaint is that I had difficulty communicating my drink order to the wait staff (unsweetened black tea). After three attempts they finally got it. Although the restaurant wasn't full and there was a lot of staff it was rather difficult to get someone's attention. Outside of that the food was good and reasonably priced!
