Luby's

Stopped in for a quick lunch. Guest from out of country wanted to sample this cafeteria. My partner and I made some delicious choices. My guest chose the steak. All sides were good. The steak well done and flavorful, but way too much fat. Not a good value for my guest. Our other choices and attentive, friendly service saved a star. We had not eaten here in quite awhile. Food choices and appearance looked like an upgrade has taken place.

I may not be the best to review this location because I love their fried fish so much I don't even try anything else for the mains. Sides are fresh! Bread is great! And desserts are out of this world. I suggest, that if you go, you try to sit in the section that an older Russian or Ukrainian woman works because you will love her. We always sit in her section now. She will take care of you like family. Leave her a good tip. She deserves it. We always do. Sorry that I can't recall her name right now.

Well prepared, delicious selections, kept at a proper temperature, and served in generous portions. This is not to recommend that you go there if you haven't eaten for years, which some people actually do. It's just not right. But I had a wonderful meal and the vegetables were prepared just right. No mush...no fush. Just a note that I had the liver and onions with brown gravy on the side, green beans and corn. Also a jalapeno cornbread roll. Table service was excellent and unobtrusively attentive. Please tip.

I used to go to the one in Mesquite but sadly they closed. This Luby's is good comfort food for a great price with incredible customer service. It's clean and I wish there were more Luby's if people would just come to terms that's it's not only for the elderly but a good deal for families as well. Definitely recommend.

Good customer service from the line, to check out, to table service. The food does not seem old and dry. Seems fresh at lunch time. The only cons would be the to go designated room. I once went in there and it took over 5 minutes to get acknowledged. No one was in there and no one would come over. Then when my order was taken it took a very long time to actually get it. Go to the line instead and ask for it to go. It is much faster thar way.
