Overseeing Point Loma and the Pacific Ocean this Restaurant Bar has the perfect location. It enjoys the benefits of being part of the Hotel Del in Coronado CA and to enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole county. My wife and I took our pet to a stroll and only had a drink there - I can't comment on their food -. They have great service but the tab can go up very quickly..... Keep an eye on your budget when ordering.... Still, this place is a must if you happen to visit San Diego.

As the reviews show, Sun Deck delivers in that scene from the tourist magazine of San Diego where you are enjoying drinks by a firepit at the beach watching the sunset. Now obviously there is a price for this. First, the tables are first-come-first-serve. And naturally, you have parties that literally squat forever at the corner locations or where the wind blows the least. Second, the prices are high for tapa-style finger food to accompany drinks. And because they're so, the portions aren't big either. Again, you do not go to Sun Deck for the food, and whatever food that may come out, they'll go cold fast anyways. You go to Sun Deck for that magazine shot and to feel like you're living life to its fullest in San Diego. A great place to go outing with a group of friends. Not so much as a restaurant. One exception to this: the falafels on the Mezze Platter is out of this world. Not sure if they bought it from a local shop but it almost felt out-of-place to be so crunchy and flavorful.

The views are great and our server was excellent. That is 2 of the 3 stars. The food was terrible. Really I have had better salsa, chips and guacamole at Applebee's and for a third of the price. And my drink was good but served in a plastic cup. $18 for a margarita in a plastic cup. I was not impressed. Walk down and check out the views than drive away and get some decent food.

This is the more casual fare attached to the Hotel De Coronado, so the menu prices reflect where you are. Killer views, great service, and while the menu is limited everything is excellent. So why four stars? Well..... Even though I was prepared for a bit of mark up on simple light fare, 35 bucks for three ( DE-LICIOUS !) tacos and a Coke seems a little high. For our group of four to have what was on the lunch board , two cocktails, and two soft drinks was around 165.00 with a tip..., whew... Again glad I was on somebody else's AmEx.....this was a requested stop though for one in our party so we all tagged along...I wouldn't throw this kinda jack around for myself... There are quick and easy spots on Coronado that won't break the bank...

Great food. Great view. Service... Not so much. At least not with our server unfortunately. Took about 25minutes just to get our 3 iced teas and 1 coke. Food was reasonable time. Only saw our waiter smile once throughout our whole 2 hours there. Not just for our table but for all of his section he rarely smiled. Not too friendly. Coming from a tourist island myself I understand how annoyig sometimes it can be. But also, you know where you are working. Overall outta 5 I would rate it a 3.5-4. Would've actually don't a full 5 but unfortunately service. But highly recommend their basil chicken sandwich.

We actually wanted to eat at one of the restaurants inside the hotel, but due to sightseeing, we came at an odd time. It was a little after lunch service and a few hours before dinner, so nothing was open except for the bar and Sun Deck Bar & Grill.
