This was our first visit to Johnnie's and it did not disappoint. It was a nice little place. Got "The Johnnie Burger" and fries. No frills, just a good burger. Service was great as well. Even though there was one bartender, he was very attentive to everyone.

Classic small, squeaky clean, bar/restaurant that has been around for decades. Best hamburger in town and the service is second to none!

It's been 30 years since I'd been to Johnny's. I was not disappointed!!! HUGE burgers, even hubby couldn't finish. Delicious, juicy and well worth $10. If you go there you might not need fries unless you're extremely hungry. Worth the drive to Tranue rd!!

In the past the burgers were among the best in town, however, at my last visit, the burgers were a bit dry. Maybe ask how we want the burger cooked?
The beer is still extremely cold - which is amazing.
Love the small-town bar atmosphere. We'll be back!

Great food, and service. And, a comfortable atmosphere.
Update... The hamburgers have changed. They no longer appear to be fresh grilled. However, the customer service is still better than good. I'd give it 10 stars, if I could.

After driving past here for several years and looking at it on line, my hubby and I stopped in for lunch. Holy cow! Best cheeseburgers we’ve ever had. Doesn’t need any condiments! Food is prepared fresh daily. The burgers are fresh-not frozen. Onion rings and tots were great too. Great little tavern that’s been around for 75 years. The bartender/server, Chris, was super nice. It’s clean, the food is great. Don’t be fooled by the exterior! Support a local business and please give it a try!

Neighborhood joints, dive bars call them what you wish, but I love exploring them. Johnny’s Tavern was such an outing. We went on a Wednesday as that is the only day they have Joey’s Coneys. They are known for their burgers and roast beef, but there are also fish baskets. I had two coneys and a side of onion rings. My wife did a burger with fries. The Conies were good, and the sauce was delicious. The hamburger in the sauce was not in big chunks, and the seasoning was not overpowering. The onion ring was crispy. The burger was deluxe, cooked medium well as requested, and a decent size. Although they are known for their burgers, and the burger was good, it was not spectacular. Our server was attentive and outgoing, which is a plus for us. It was a nice outing to a Dive Bar that I had not been to.

We love Johnnie's Tavern! Dinner last night was great. The burger was perfect with crispy tots and an ice cold beer - hit the spot! Our bartender, Jason, was so much fun! Thank you for a great Thursday night, Johnnie's!

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Great burger & fries. The service was fantastic and the meal arrived promptly. Ordered the cheeseburger with fries and added bacon. Which was really good. $11.82 plus a $3 tip which seemed fair. For the youngsters out there you will see a phone booth inside the restaurant which is something you don't see every day. I'll be back again.

Stopped in to check out Johnnie's Coneys. Was waited on promptly. 3 booths and very well upholstered. 4 smaller tables. 2 double tables and the bar. 4 TV's, so plenty of sports. Soda is in a can with a cup with plenty of ice. From previous reviews I expected a serious run down dive, not so. Waiter was Benjamin who was super nice and informative about the bar. Plenty of chili and cheese on the dogs. Onion rings we're nice and crispy. Hot dog was a full length dog not one of those smaller ones that you see in regular bars. Plenty of cheese on your dog. You get a choice of American, Swiss, pepper jack and provolone cheese. The chili was a lightly seasoned version. They load plenty on the dogs. Super good meal for $9. Again Benjamin was all over it ensuring everything was perfect. I can see where you might miss it if it is your first time. Definitely will be back for one of there burgers.

Good food, good prices.
Stopped in for lunch with some friends this past winter. "CLOSE THE DOOR!" Everyone yells at the latest person to enter. A space heater going in the corner.
This isn't Max & Ermas, Red Robin, etc. You can only rate this with other taverns. It's dark with a long bar and scattered tables and booths. Neon lights and bar signs with alcohol promotional signage.
Food is a big customer draw here. That's why there's tables instead of pool table, darts, and pinball. The limited table tent menu is brief with solid bar options. Fryers and flat top.
We're all here for the burgers. One gets the coneys(see pic), because it was a Wednesday. The 11oz beef patties are a good mixture of texture and flavor. Grilled bun(see pic). Super fresh, crisp produce toppings(see pic). Don't even bother asking for your burger cooked to a certain degree of doneness. You get what you get. No pink, no dryness.
Crisp hot fries, onion rings, or onion rings. All fried appetizers for a cheap price. Keep it simple. Order what you want initially, and shut up. This is not a place that visits your table 6 times during a meal. It's a bartender up front waiting on everyone in there. Placing your orders and bringing them to you, while cleaning tables and making drinks. Huge glassware avoids chasing water refills. Most beer refills were bottles waved in the air.
Are you on the westside with some friends looking for a hang? Your dollar has a bigger value here for food and drinks.
My only drawback was the bathroom, some wobbly furniture, and the fact that I do know a comparative Tavern that does do more creative chef menu in this same setting. Search dive bar Reynoldsburg.
I will return & recommend Johnnies.

Tucked right by the railroad tracks, this place has been serving some of the best burgers in town since the 1940's. Also, they serve what may be the best roast beer sandwich in town. You won't find any "fancy" beers here, but you may find the coldest in town.

It is what it is. A small hole in the wall bar, with GREAT burgers and the best onion rings I've ever had. Tiny bar food menu. On our last visit the ultra friendly bartender was also the only waitress and server, and she was super polite, and service was fast. No frills, if you don't want a burger/fries/onions rings, or maybe a big hotdog, don't go. But if you do... it's as good as you can get.

FoodCritic. Restaurants (including taverns and pubs that serve food) earn their customers' loyalty and continued patronage by serving terrific food at fair prices in a welcoming setting. Johnny's touches all these bases: best burgers in the city, difficult to spend more than $25 for dinner (with beers) for two, and friendly, attentive staff. The reviewer who based her sour review on the sound level of the jukebox, here's a thought: go to a heavy metal concert and sit right in front of the speakers. Leave restaurant reviews to folks who care about food.

Really good burger. They have a limited menu but everything is very good, reasonably priced and well beyond expectations. If your looking for a top notch burger and a cold beer this is the place for you. Johnny's could easily be missed on your travels on Trabue Rd and by the RR tracks, but it's worth the stop!

Neighborhood Gem. Alas The Johnnie of Johnnie's Tavern passed a while ago. But the place is still a gem of a find just east of the chain frenzy that is Hilliard-Rome Rd. The burgers are as good as advertized and, indeed, the onion rings are a plus on the side as opossed to a nuisance. Happy hour is 3-7 Monday through Friday and would be my recommended time to visit. Not for the half priced appetizers which are certainly acceptable, especially at two dollars, but with beer specials and two dollar well drinks, it is worth the stop. The beers are definitely ice cold and the drinks, even at full price which is a whopping three dollars, are easily as potent as two drinks at most other places. The service is friendly and always a pleasure to see. They have a decent lunch crowd and sitting space is definitely at a premium. Also, their hours are somewhat sporadic so calling ahead would be a good suggestion. By the way, I take my kids in and have never had a problem doing so, in fact quite the opposite. These are down home folks with a "Come on in, good to see ya," atmosphere.

You know, I’ve lived in Columbus for over a decade now and the amazing thing about this city is that it has these little “blink and you’ll miss them” neighborhoods full of history and character. Take Riverlea for instance. Adorable houses full of characte
