Just had the best lunch I have had in a long time. I thought this was a new restaurant but found out they just moved and but been established for 18 years in Des Moines. The humus was probably the best humus I’ve had in Des Moines. We stopped in just after the lunch rush so we received a little extra attention with it being a little slower which was nice. Karren (I believe her name was) shared with us how they prepare their food which was a nice touch. Very friendly. I’m super excited to have found this restaurant that is close to my office. It’s a small, contemporary feel and the food is great quality. Not that frozen processed stuff you can find dinning out. I’d recommend starting with hummus and ending with the baklava with Turkish coffee. We had the jalapeño chicken wrap and the garlic chicken wrap. Both extremely flavorful. Chicken was very tender. I’d also recommend asking for a side of the hot “sauce”. Went great with the humus and I added a little to my wrap too. I’ll definitely be back.

We really enjoyed our visit here! The food was expertly made, and delivered by friendly knowledgeable staff. The owner was there and came to the table several times to check on how our experience was going. I had the gyro, and was delighted to see one of my fast food faves, elevated to a truly gourmet level. It was meaty and featured condiments that were unique and flavorful with an array of great textures. The owner asked how everything was and suggested that we try the Turkish coffee. We did and even on a hot Summer afternoon, I really enjoyed this tasty drink that I had never had before. I will be back to explore the rest of this terrific menu.

Love coming here! MJ Gazali is always very warm and welcoming to the people that come in. More of a people-focused restaurant, Sinatra plays softly in the background and it's easy to forget that you're in Clive, Iowa as the outside world is hidden behind frosted windows. Now on to the food! Everything my partner and I have tried has been delicious! I highly recommend the spicy garlic chicken shawarma, falafel, hummus, and baklava!
