Pour House

Finally got around to visiting this establishment yesterday with my Wife, primarily for Happy Hour. I mean, how can you go wrong with 1/2 off drinks and appetizers...which we went for. Seating inside was immediate, and once we placed our order, it was a matter of minutes before our appetizers arrived. We ordered (pictured left to right), the Carnitas Pork Tacos, Rolled Chicken Tacos, Garlic Fries, and the Ahi Poke Mini Tostadas. Every dish was hot and fresh, with the exception of the Poke, and stacked with fresh ingredients. The accompanied sauces (sweet and smoky salsa for the tacos...pineapple salsa for the Ahi Poke) were extremely tasty and fresh as well. Plenty, and I mean PLENTY, of fresh garlic was piled on the fries, which added a sharp contrast to the tastes of our other dishes. We both savored the texture of the Ahi, which just about melted in our mouths, and relished the Pork Tacos, which had so much meat you couldn't pick it up to eat them. The rolled Tacos were basic, but the salsa made up for it. More than enough food for 2 people, but we still tried a dessert, which turned out to be the Lemon Raspberry cheesecake. I turned out to be just that... Graham Cracker crust, Lemon cake, Raspberry spread, Cream cheese icing, Lemon chocolate shavings, whipped cream, and a "Strawberry" slice. It looked OK, tasted ok, but it wasn't a true cheesecake by any standard. I did mention it to the server and manager (both very friendly and understanding) and was comped for it with an apology (which we didn't need or want! 🙂) An overall great experience, one we will go back for to have a larger meal. Inside the restaurant, it's noisier than outside... we'll sit on the patio for a more quiet experience and fresh air.

The potential of the Pour House is amazing, but... straight to the point? Pour House, it was a Wednesday night and your inside restaurant was empty and you still couldn't deliver on so many levels. I wanted to give 3 stars but it's about the food right? The staff were acting as if they were so backed up because of the rush they were unable to provide decent service. Come on, you had an ample staff and still missed the mark. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. After a long wait, our food came out cold. Like lonely winter nights in Chicago cold. When the bar tender took our order he did it without writing it down. It looked good, but when the order comes back completly wrong and cold, what's the point? I really don't want to beat a dead horse here, but this place lacked on so many levels, it is pointless to continue. End result? Don't care if you have a 20 foot TV if the food is sub par and the service is worse than the food. I know there are good reviews, heat to a meal will do that. It was such a nice looking place with potential, WHAT HAPPENED?!?!

We are in Chico to have our motorcycles serviced at our beloved Ozzie’s BMW. Looking around for dinner options—and after asking our lodging hosts—we chose the Pour House. The patio is a great spot for people and dogs and our dog especially loved it since we were near the door to the restaurant’s interior. People walked by and stopped frequently to pet her. Then a man walked out, went straight to her, knelt and began the mutual love fest. She sprawled next to him and he scratched her and played with her for at least a minute before introducing himself. That was George, the manager. Dog people need no more information to the establishment than that, but we had a fantastic burger and fish and chips, plus a wonderful peanut butter stout. We loved our meal, the convivial atmosphere and that stout. Good going, George!

The best part about this establishment was the women's restroom. It is very chic and clean. The armchairs could use a good deep clean as they are beginning to show they're age. They offer an off menu vegan black bean burger that has potential. You must request they thoroughly cook it otherwise it will be mushy and texturally not pleasant. The top bun is stamped with the iconic HP emblem which enhances the presentation. They're salads are large and from what my dining companions said, taste good. The outdoor ambiance would be a more pleasing experience should you choose to visit.

We like to get the big sexy Burger. It is absolutely awesome! You get two Giant, and I mean giant, Angus beef patties and a bunch of other things like Swiss and cheddar and tomatoes and bacon etc. Order some garlic fries with that and I guarantee you will not want to eat for the next 12 hours! Very yummy
