Yu-mi Sushi

Finally! A sushi restaurant that LOVES and APPRECIATES uni the way that I do! I have live in Virginia Beach/Chesapeake since 2013 and haven't found my go to spot for fresh uni. My husband and I decided to check this place out because I saw a photo of a tray of uni in one of their photos. Once I saw that, I called to make sure they had it in stock, and was excited when they said yes and that it was fresh! It is located in a newer looking business complex off of Kempsville. The decor was nice and it was very clean. There was only one other couple there, but I didn't care since all I cared for was fresh uni. I ordered an order of uni and a chirashi bowl, my husband order the spicy roll combo. The waitress asked if I wanted to add quail egg to the uni, and of course I said yes. We were served our miso soups and salads, which were delicious. But I was really impressed with my uni order. It was really fresh, silky, smooth, and oh so good. Yum! I had to order another uni with quail egg. When my Chirashi bowl came out, I was delighted that the fish was fresh. After my second uni order came out, I found myself taking my time with it, savouring every last bit. The owner came to our table and asked who ordered the uni, and I raised my hand as I was guilt as charged! Lol. He said he knew I had to be an uni lover since I liked it with the quail egg. He then shared that he also loved uni and showed me other ways to order uni, like the wedding party (uni, tobiko, ikura, quail egg on a spoon), at the restaurant. Ekkk! I cannot wait to try them. He also reassured me that they regularly have uni, but to still call just to be sure. I am so happy to have discovered this place. I can't wait to return for iur next date night!

This place is on point! Just moved to Chesapeake from Va Beach, and everything about this place was perfect, the chill music and ambiance inside, the people were super kind and helpful, the gyoza was superb, the sashimi was melt in your mouth delicious, the saki flight was ultra refreshing, and even the little things from the fried rice to the wasabi were flavorful smooth and perfect. Definitely our new go-to 👍👍✅🔥😋💯
