Booked last minute for group of 13. Sunny was fantastic, lovely, friendly manner on the phone. When we arrived later in the evening , she was very welcoming and attentive. Food was great also, varied menu, piping hot and all arrived within similar time. Clearly a known favourite of the locals. Would come again. Thank you!

Excellent service can be hard to come by these days but The Ship team have nailed it. They were very accomodating to us (2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 baby and 1 small dog), the food was excellent, the staff were attentive and friendly and the halloween decorations were a great example of the team's effort to make the pub seem welcoming. We tried to come in summer but it didn't work out, I can't wait to try it out next summer. Totally recommend.

I pre-booked to sit in “the round table in the big bay window” which I often drive past. What a lovely setting for my 30th with my family. Very wholesome, in a gorgeous pub with a beautiful sunset backdrop. The staff were so lovely and attentive and the food was awesome. This was indoors and i’ve heard the outdoors is pretty cool too - 100% would recommend. You can’t beat lovely genuine Essex staff who know how to run things! Honestly, the staff were great - thank you!

My family and I had never been to the Ship but I booked it as we went to Go Ape (approx 10 mins drive away) for my sisters birthday. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They made sure my sister had her surprise birthday cake and sang happy birthday. The food was lovely too and what a wonderful restaurant to have found. Thank you to the amazing employees for your service.

Popped in on way past as had visited Hyde Hall (from near Harlow) Delicious Sunday lunch ... I had chicken, partner had roast beef. Potatoes light and fluffy and delicious gravy. Shame it isn't local as would come back often. Staff really friendly and really helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely pub. I have been here a few times now and will definitely keep going back. Service can be a little slow but the staff are lovely and the food doesn't disappoint. I wanted to try their Sunday roast before reviewing, it was a great roast but I would say the food I have had there during the week was jaw dropping. Once I had the coronation chicken salad and it was incredible. The asparagus starter was mouth watering. The aged Angus steak was cooked to perfection, the Silton and garlic sauce is a must! Overall this pub has taken a drastic turn for the better since the new landlord took over and bit by bit they are bringing this pub to another level of greatness. I would highly recommend paying them a visit, especially over the summer because they have a gorgeous large garden, great for kids to run about in. They also have a good range for children on the kids menu. Also if you have a dog, it is a dog friendly pub.

What a great family run establishment. This was a real spontaneous Sunday lunch and we are glad we found such a welcoming place. The food, atmosphere and team are great. Sunny was a great host, ensuring we had everything that we needed. Thank you, Andy for taking the time to speak with us and let us know what's on in the coming month. They have an amazing spot for pizza in the garden, what a lovely space, thank you Sue and Jack for making the time to go through everything. We had a great Sunday roast and burger.
