Popped in on are way home too the railway station for a drink,great choice of real ales and a decent cider a great atmosphere and a good service.

All newly refurbished, great drink selection at reasonable prices, it’s our true local, geographically and atmospherically.

Came here for bike rally, lovely traditional pub with real ales, staff were really friendly and very helpful sorting transport for us..will be back next year.

This pub is a proper local pub, and the quality of the ample amounts of real ales is very good

The pub is an essential visit for real ale drinkers who enjoy grand hand pumped ales and be in good company of both staff and locals

Lovely couple of hours in the shovel. Last time I was up this way the pub was closed and under renovation. The new landlady is a fantastic host and very friendly as were the locals that were already in when I arrived.

Friendly staff. Been recently renovated and it is a huge improvement on what it was before the lock down closure in 2020. Give it a try if you haven't been for a while.

Dogs welcome but under control please. regulars are welcoming and friendly . good cask beers and the place is starting to look a lot better now some improvements are being made. All in all friendliest pub in town and reasonable prices.
