High Tide

Had a great meal tonight. Had the stuffed haddock with asparagus and a salad with the house dressing. It was a well paced delicious meal. My server recommended the house salad dressing and she was right. The strawberry creme brulee was a bit runny but tasted great. Second time eating here and it was great both times. I highly recommend this restaurant! The views are lovely as well.

Service was wonderful, outdoor seating provided a beautiful view of the river. Clean bathrooms inside. I wasn't impressed with the serving size and presentation of the "lazy lobster", my dad got a lobster roll which was a little heavy on lettuce and lacking a bit of flavor. We enjoyed our food and experience overall but were not wowed by the visit. Mixed drinks and local beers were good.

We got the High Tide Platter for takeout. It comes with a choice of two sides. I got the rice and salad. The rice was flavorful and the seafood tasted fresh. However, I was disappointed with the portion size given that this dish cost around $30 to $40 in total with tax. Overall, the food is tasty but please increase the portion size for the price. I would only have given 3 stars but the front personnel was kind and patient so I gave 4 stars.

Our family went to High Tide on a Monday evening to celebrate after our son's 8th grade graduation. Though my wife and I had been for lunch once a few years ago, this was our first visit as a family, and given recent economic conditions, we were a little apprehensive to see if the cost-to-serving-portions ratio would be worth the expense. When we arrived we had no wait for seating, even though the restaurant was clearly busy. The hostess noted for us the options of indoor, partially outdoor, and open-air tables. Given the warm temperatures and pleasant skies, we opted for the open-air seating on the deck, which gave us a beautiful view of the sunset over the Penobscot River, with the city of Bangor in the background. The dinner menu entrees offered surf and turf selections that satisfied even our pickiest eater, the graduate. He was delighted to order one pound of chicken tenders (if you want fries, you must order them as a side with that). He later declared that High Tide knows how to do chicken tenders right. That's High praise from that boy. My wife enjoyed fish & chips. Our older son had the fried shrimp platter, and I was very pleased with boiled haddock. Prices ranged from $17 to market value for all dinner items, but the portions and quality matched the cost. We'd had no cause for concern. In fact, when I paid the check at the end of our meal, my wife noted that it was less expensive for the four of us to eat at High Tide for supper than to eat at another seafood favorite (with smaller quantities) for lunch. In the 2022 economy, eating out has become a rare event for us. However, I want to go to High Tide again. I look forward to my next opportunity to do so.

We went on a Friday night in August. We got an outdoor table looking over the Water and walkway. They had a great band playing ..60 and 70s music.Very good! I ordered a Lobster Mac and cheese, others ordered Lobster roll, and yummy fried Calamari. Loved our drinks too..I ordered the peanutbutter painkiller..really good. My mom liked her Cosmo. Also I loved their Chianti house dressing..wow..sooo good! Everything was great! Loved the fun atmosphere and great staff.
