Black Oak Grill

So, we are out in Branson for a week here and stopped in hoping to get some food that isn't as bad as many experiences have been so far. This is now our second visit here and we are going one last time before we leave. I hope that says it all. Food is amazing, the restaurant is very clean, and all of the staff have been great, especially our server, Brad, who we asked for the second and will again for the third visit. The menu is smaller, which is better in my opinion, and each plate shows the care put into it. Enjoy!

On a weekend getaway to Branson. It is my first time here, of course. We unload our baggage (literally and figuratively) at the hotel. All we could think about was having a lovely dinner to unwind. I choose the Black Oak Grill. I really wanted to try Paula Dean's but my daughter informed me that this restaurant had a higher rating. Off we went! The restaurant was teeming with diners but there were still plenty of free tables and booths. We were seated but not asked where we would like to be seated. We placed our orders after reviewing the menus an inordinate amount of time. The options were quite limited. Our server, Jessica left to place the orders. While people watching I noticed the daily special. It had not been mentioned by our server. Suffice it to say, I changed my order to the glazed steak with mashed potatoes and added the 🍤. The steak was a little chewy but flavorful. There was only a hint of glaze but my meal was decent. My daughter ordered the Iron Skillet Trout. It was aesthetically pleasing but was completely unpalatable. My granddaughter enjoyed her chicken sandwich and 🍟.

Service was good considering how packed they were with the staff they had. We had to go to the bar to order since we were eating outside, but they brought the food out. Carrot cake is amazing and well worth it. I had the Reuben which came with delicious fries. The sauerkraut had a good flavor, but was not as strong as I prefer. The corned beef was the star and stood out over everything. I've had better, but it was good. My wife had a center-cut sirloin cooked to perfection. It came with some delicious zucchini. She added some beer battered shrimp for ~$5. It was delicious and she had to split it with my daughter after she tried a bite. I didn't try any drinks, but they have an Ozark Mule (ginger beer and whiskey) that sounds good.

Very nice experience. This place was recommended and we really enjoyed the food. Service was good, but not great. Building was nice inside. Nice atmosphere. We both had the Chicken Breast with fresh zucchini and the mashed potatoes. Chicken was moist and tender, zucchini was aldanti, and the mashed potatoes had the skin still on them with a white gravy, which was delicate but tasty. Prices were reasonable and the restaurant looked over waterway which was nice. We would definitely go back here and eat. Also located in a shopping plaza, which was very nice and upscale called the Landing. This was right past downtown and across the tracks.

We rolled in as a group and our server said " well that's great , a bunch of Harley riders who probably want attention. " Close. They're not all Harleys and only a few of us want attention ,but we're all hungry , what can you do , Cheryl? She did an outstanding job , kept it all straight and we had a great meal and a very good experience.
