The Duck

My fiancée and I have become occasional regulars here. The place has a great almost ski-lodge like cosy and relaxed ambiance. It’s like a unique hybrid between a lodge, a diner and a pub. It’s really spacious as well, and they haven’t packed in the tables tightly at all. As someone with generalised anxiety I always feel very relaxed and at home here. You can see there’s a good mix of regulars and otherwise that attend, and there’s often a dog or two chilling by the bar as well, so I assume it’s dog friendly (for the good boys and good girls at least). I like the choice in background music as well (good mix of post 90’s alternative, rap, pop and indie). They’ve done it up really well with Halloween decor at the moment. And otherwise they’ve got some fun tongue-in cheek decor around the place, a saw with “chav control” written on it hangs behind the bar. And on that note they have a policy of no casual sportswear or workwear in there either, so you can see how the relaxed and fun atmosphere is not pure happenstance. The service is relaxed but in a good way, you get the vibe the workers enjoy working there as they’re always friendly in a very genuine way and never act like anything is too much trouble. Although to be fair we always attend at non-peak hours so I can only speak for what I’ve experienced. The food is great, ordering the nachos as a sharer is excellent value as are the wraps from the lunch menu. The Cheeseburgers I’d rate an 8/10. The sides like the onion rings are very generous portions too. Also there are great deals to be had Monday - Thursday (particularly Tuesday & Wednesday!) after 5pm. I’m tee-total so I love that they’ve got a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers on the menu. I wish more places would follow suit! Pepsi Max on tap (by the pint or otherwise) or Coke and lots of other soft drinks by the bottle (I think). They have a selection of drinks that’ll rival anywhere and I appreciate that for sure!

Food is delicious as always, they did get our order wrong twice even though we pre ordered as there was a big group but they were very apologetic and offered us a free drink while they made the right meal. Good atmosphere and good value for money, would defo recommend going during happy hour as it saves you alot of penny’s

We were so happy they were able to squeeze us in, stupidly hadn’t booked anything and tried 3 other places. They were also busy but made room for us and the service was amazing and the food even better. Loved the decor and atmosphere, we were served by a lovely young lady and it was her first shift but she was great and did everything right. The whole team were very welcoming and helpful and the food came surprisingly quick but was delightful. Good portion sizes, very tasty and fairly priced. Shame it’s so far from where I live or I would frequent here for sure. Highly recommended the quesadillas!

I recently visited a fantastic bar for food, and I must say it exceeded my expectations! The ambiance was inviting and lively, perfect for a casual evening with friends or a relaxing night out. The menu featured a delightful array of dishes, ranging from mouthwatering appetizers to hearty mains. I particularly enjoyed their signature cocktails, expertly crafted to complement the flavors of the food. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations. Overall, this bar is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates delicious food and a great atmosphere!

Duck bar was a good relaxed dining experience. Staff: Friendly and helpful. Service was good. Food: Modern menu with options for most tastes. The food looked appealing and was really tasty. COVID: cleaning evident and hand wash stations located all around inside. Staff no longer wearing masks. Overall: I would come back here. Lost a point as outside area was no very appealing to sit in for longer periods.
