Visited here on game day and it was great place to have food and drinks beforehand. Definitely an older crowd around, but as we’re older it suited us fine. Away from the craziness in other bars. Nice seated area outside and selection of craft beers and food was good!

Great location for food and drinks before or after campus events. The owner/chef/management is new fall 2018. The menu selections for individuals or groups is great. Also, it's a comfortable place to dine alone.

Not the best and it caters to am older crowd. Has all the potential in the world but isn't utilized as a late night mainstay for college kids. Good burgers tho

I come here about 2 times a week and the food is absolutely amazing. The beer selection could be a bit bigger. The atmosphere is very modern. If you are looking for a dirty and sweaty bar scene then this place is not for you. Bears Lair is really modern and classy. Has an amazing outdoor patio with fire.

Not a bad place. Some good craft beers. Prices are average/expensive. Doesn't have any real atmosphere. This place has only just opened though so early days. Staff were nice and convenient to Berkeley campus for a decent beer

Great bar, good food and service.
I've been to The Bear's Lair only one. There were students and others. Most tables inside were reserved at Dinner time (on a Thursday), so if you go with a bigger group you should reserve. You can sit inside or outside. I had a very good burger. Service was fast and friendly.

Nice beer selection. Really tasty food. Service is friendly. Pleasant (if somewhat urban/industrial) environment.
While I liked the decor of the old Bears Lair a bit more, I really like this new version quite a lot.

Good beer selection, and the fried chicken sandwich was tasty. Although I have never been to the old Bear's Lair, I'll agree with others that the atmosphere is very sterile and generic. Not my idea of a "campus" bar - more like a bar that happens to be on campus.
