I REALLY hope the new ownership gets it together! I had been coming here for years about once a week under the previous owners. I’ve tried it twice under the new management and the sushi is almost inedible. It tastes like one big mushy glob of rice with indistinguishable flavors and textures. Extremely disappointing! I’m hoping that these are just growing pains and that the new owners are able to correct this and find their grove, because this spot used to be fantastic!

My favourite Sushi in North Berkeley. Order bental for lunch and dinner quite often. Very good deal and fresh sashimi!

I've tried several Japanese restaurants in Berkeley and this is the first one that I thought had the right mix of quality at an affordable price point. The sushi is good and affordable. The service is good: The food was ready when promised and the staff was gracious and friendly to me and my family. I'm looking forward to ordering take-out from them again.

Food was amazing and service was speedy but not pushy. Our waitress was so nice and funny. The place itself was cute and cozy with only about 10 tables in the whole restaurant and a sushi bar area. Overall it was some of the best sushi my boyfriend and I have had and we were in and out in about 20 minutes. Ignore all the reviews about tips because it was never pushed upon us to tip but the receipt did show options between 18%-30% tip. Yes tip is voluntary but if you’re eating out, you should always tip for the sake of the waitress.

It is OK given that it is a bit cheaper than competing restaurants. Had the nigiri plate twice and it was mediocre. Recommend more the lunch boxes.
EDIT: I was unfair with 3/5 compared to how I rate other places. This place definitely deserves at least 4/5.
