Beautiful work done on the place. It was sad to see Lanesplitter go but this is definitely an upgrade. This was a "soft opening" so the staff is still working things out but with that said they we're very attentive, helpful and considerate. Little Gems salad was tasty, the homemade gnocchi was excellent and their pepperoni pizza was cheesy good. Will be returning.

The two star food rating is what is upsetting. We had the Breakfast / bacon / egg, cheese on house made brioche, the brioche was cut way to thick, bacon was burned, overcooked, & a dot of cheese in the middle of the sandwich, which made it super greasy, don't know what they did there, it was not good at all. Even the Strawberry on the plate had brown spots on it, Really people?. I had also the Tartine on house made English muffin with Avocado soft boiled egg & feta cheese omg, the muffin was like a hockey pug, I was afraid to cut with knife, thought it might eject of my plate . Nothing spectacular, no flavour, a little fresh lemon squeezed over the dish or some Maldonado salt, could have possibly done the job. Also, our food did not come at the same time, the Tartine was cold by the time my husband's breakfast sandwich came. The bill came & it felt like we are at a Gas Station, you pay with card , pay$75.67, pay cash, pay $73.17, what's up with that, the prices are certainly steep enough, yet the Owners choose to pass on the charge to their customers. All in all, so extremely dissappointing.. I have to say to their defense, our server was world-class, he was super nice, friendly & informed ( he had all the day pastry specials written down ,so he could tell guests. Maybe you guys should post your specialties on a board for example. Ambiance was beautiful, indoors & outdoors, very nice patio. Too bad that the food really didn't stand out at all! I would not recommend Babette for Brunch at all. Safe your Money!!!!

I came Saturday night, late shift, I was extremely amazed when I seen that the work I helped with worked out so well! My experience was so good I had to share it at least through reviews. The staff made my experience very satisfied and comfortable even though I work the morning shift. It really unbelievable. Definitely the best patio around. I can with 10 friends who share my same experience. I will definitely come in and be more than glad to eat good food more often even though I work here.

A welcome respite from the manic nature of downtown Berkeley. They make a pretty flawless oat mocha. Babette in all their locations knows how to make stellar coffee and snacks. Architecturally, the interior is a cavernous space with a striking red, faceted, angled ceiling, very well lit throughout, neither cozy nor oppressive. Great quality of light to draw or watercolor at one of the tables. Patronage: Lots of older white gals sporting hairdoos that evoke a desire to speak to the manager, but they seem well behaved in this particular space, gabbing about art happily. If you can handle that, you're good. All in all, a well designed place with good contemporary cafe offerings. I'll definitely be back.
