Eighty-six Cafe

Cute little family run diner on far side of Benson AZ. Offers Mexican dishes, burgers, sandwiches and some entrees. Went on a Wednesday evening and place looked kind of crowded. Saw only 1 waitress. She was excellent, speedy, knowledgeable and professional. Had our drinks to us within 5 minutes. Had to wait about 20 minutes for food because of crowd. Food came out hot. I had tacos and enchiladas. Good but nothing special. I ordered carne asada tacos instead of ground beef. Get ample amount of meat. Hubby had one of their burgers. Looked and tasted real good. We both had lemonade, which came with free refills. Total for all was $38, not bad considering economy and inflation. Would return.

Delicious! I know it's not really that late, but it was only an hour until closing and the cafe let me right in, no questions asked. After struggling with an hour delay on my trip to Texas from Arizona, this was a breath of fresh air! The food was great; reminiscent of what you would expect from your Abuelitos kitchen! I ordered a smothered beef burrito with salsa verde and rice and beans. Everything was very well balanced in flavor. The table salsa had the perfect kick. I wanted to gobble the whole burrito down but I had 3 more hours on my trip to go, so the hostess sent me on my way with a to go box and a final cup of coffee! I will definitely be back!

The two stars are for the quality of the food. It was all-u- can eat fish on Friday. We ordered the battered fish and it was so tough/overcooked it was hard to eat. The cole slaw had no flavor. Service was so so. The price was right if the food was good. I probably won't go back as there are other choices in Benson.

Came in to eat lunch, we had the jalapeno burger with onion rings make sure you ask for ketchup and mayo and mustard it doesn't have anything on it. We ordered the shrimp with green beans and mashed potatoes, the shrimp was over cooked and tasted strange. The avacado tosdadas we're good same with the chips and salsa. Also ordered chili rellenos they were soggy and tasteless even with salsa. The waitress was very young and forgetful you can definitely tell she has not worked long. Service is very very very slow so don't be in a hurry to get your food if you eat here.

Food was mediocre to decent. The waitress(middle aged lady with glasses) was plain garbage. I've served tables myself and for me to give wait staff a bad mark takes a lot. Staff is rude, short, and has terrible habits. Sorry not sorry, but having guests turn off an open sign for you is the equivalent to turning up chairs, especially when it's 45mins prior to the posted closing time. If I managed the restaurant she'd be fired on the spot. Will not return!!!!
