Both dishes we had were excellent, good portions, quality ingredients, prepared well and very reasonably priced vs the cost for similar dishes at other places in the area.
We would easily have both dishes again ( braised port belly, fish & chips..w best home made tartar sauce! ) as the photo speaks for itself!
A service charge is added to your bill.

We had a delightful lunch and really enjoyed the joyful service. We ate the mango and kale salad and the chicken teriyaki. Both were refreshing.

Wow, really loved the chicken skewer!! It was served with picked vegetables and a beautiful sweet sauce. I highly recommend it!! The flavours mix wonderfully!!
I was hungry so added a side of onion rings and these were also wonderful. They were surprisingly light and the two dishes together hit the spot perfectly!
Add the atmosphere of the church bells across the street and river to the side and you have a fabulous lunch

Browns, Bath: One Brown wowed us at the Browns. Thank you @helen for the superb dinner and giggles! Browns is deceptively simple on the outside but it’s a solid stately restaurant with a certain traditional pomp meets nostalgia inside. Different sections sport different styling notes. The ones near the windows are cut out for romantic shoots with light pouring in on a summer day. Food is traditionally British classics gobsmacking. Fish and chips are generous portions with the best batter. Fish pie is comfort food good. Our service by Yee Lin is out of this world. She constantly checked in on us and was attentive, genuine and sweet. When in Bath, do the Browns. It’s a heck of a gorgeous brasserie. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Had a wonderful lunch here. The food, atmosphere, and decor were fantastic. The fillet steak here is highly recommended. But a special mention has to go to our server, Yee-Lin. She was a fantastic hostess and made the visit extra special for us.

Just when I thought Bath couldn't get any better, it was at that moment I took a bite of the rhubarb custard at Brown's and spiraled into another, more dreamy, dimension. Was that dramatic? Not so much. It was utterly delicious. There is no shortage of finger licking good food in England (as we in the South would say), but Brown's takes it up to the next level. Everything was incredible- the scallops, the pancetta linguine, everything. The seasonal menu is my favorite part, as I can always look forward to something new on my bi-annual trip. Oh, and don't even get me started on the champagne. Of course it's "top shelf" (or top of wherever champagne is stored), but a tall glass of bubbly pairs nicely with every and any meal so you'd be remiss to not pour one out.
As for the atmosphere, it can't be beat. Even in the rainy season. You'll never find a city as quaint and blissful as Bath. That said, the outdoor seating is expansive and a must. The service is particularly nice especially since it can be more of a casual place for lunch. The historical building is beautiful, and I love how the interior mimics the outside fecade in terms of the cohesive nature of the decor. All very simple and elegant in a subtle, historic way. If you're in Bath for even so little as an afternoon, I'd 12/10 recommend heading to Brown's. It's simply dreamy all around!

Hey forgot to post this but this was a must for us and should be for you . I give this a big 5 stars just for using Chase gin (which is distilled at Herefordshire) in our drinks we had while enjoying a spectacular view of river Avon and the surroundings. Whether its coffee, drinks, or the great food wow what a way to chill. Class all the way around in such a relaxing atmosphere. Just enjoying a great bite to eat then some nice after dinner libations I'll say it again wow what a planet we live on. Hey Gloria heading to the beach hoping to find some descent chow on the water in South Florida. Will be chiming in for sure. Enjoy wherever you are . Gloria over and out.

Leisurely service and good food. we had a laid back lunch in the fleeting sunlight enjoying people watching and resting our tired feet. Off the main thoroughfares it's a quiet and enjoyable place to grab solid and delicious food.

I came to Brown's during a lovely day trip to the beautiful city of Bath. The restaurant can be summed up as an awful attempt to be posh, but the food is delicious so it's forgivable.
What do I mean when I say that Brown's tries to be posh?
~ The fancy atmosphere.
~ The uniform of the waiters (all suited up with perfect combovers).
~ The amount of French words that I can't pronounce on the menu.
Unfortunately when it comes to being posh, Brown's offers all of the frills with none of the pizazz.
Customer Service:
The main reason why Brown's goes from 4 or maybe even potentially 5 stars in my book to only 3.
They're a bit inefficient with their service and left us wondering what we should do. We wanted to order drinks and food, but waited about a whole 10 minutes and no waiter showed up so we had to flag someone down. After we ordered our drinks, the waiter walked off while we were mid-sentence about to order food. Awkward....
Eventually, someone else showed up and took our orders.
I had ordered a 3 quid starter "Minute of Salmon". I even pointed it out on my menu and my waiter thought that I had said "Smoked Venison" which was a whole 4 pounds more expensive. Smoked Venison was nowhere near the section of the menu I pointed at and I can't tell how they sound similar either. However, I don't like being "that guy" who sends the kitchen in haywire asking them to take things back and just ate the Smoked Venison anyway.
Food:
Incredibly delicious to be fair to them. My main was Cumberland Sausage & Mash, 3 pieces of sausage with mashed potatoes and onion gravy. Probably solidly the best Sausage & Mash I've had yet. The sausages had lovely caramellisation over the top and were very juicy on the inside. The mash was perfectly creamy and the yummy gravy tipped my happiness over the edge. At 8 pounds, I think the pricing was very fair.
---
Overall, I do like Brown's. I think they need to up their service quality a tad bit. After all, good customer service should come first and the posh uniforms should come later. The servers were perfectly nice, but just have them work on efficiency and organisation in order to not leave your customers hanging and wondering what's going on. Once the kinks have been worked out, Brown's will get a solid 5 stars for me. Until then, it's only 3 stars.

Disappointing service, and only just OK food. I've enjoyed eating here in the past, but 1.30 pm on a Sunday afternoon was not a good time.
We accepted a table at the back of the balcony away from the lovely views, but also away from the many families with small children running around, which was probably a better option. However the lighting was dim/non existent, there was no atmosphere, no music etc.
Our waitress had loose hair half pulled into a pony tail but most of it was just wafting around under a sad looking Santa hat. Although she wrote down what we ordered she then needed to ask again and even then her voice was full of doubt. The service was s-l-o-w and was delivered in odd combinations - one person's drink with the other person's starter. We were also addressed vaguely as 'you guys' the whole time.
I think there must be problems in the kitchen, but the staff also need to be much better trained. I'll not be recommending this one!

Great location. Went for the first time recently. The main meal was OK - decent enough fish cake but disappointing chips. However the dessert - creme brulee ice cream, complete with cookie on the side - was out of this world delicious and is the reason for the 4* rating!

After taking a trip to beautiful Bath and walking around this amazing town for the day it seemed fit for a proper Sunday roast to follow, so we headed to Brown's. Delicious... but a warning, you WILL need a nap after! The bf and I both went with beef for our roast and were pleasantly satisfied, although the beef was a tad overdone for our taste (omg English mustard on the side will clear your sinuses right out!!), the ample servings of veg and the Yorkshire pudding were delish. A bottle of Bordeaux was a perfect pairing to our meal. The service was high class all the way as was the atmosphere. After my first Sunday in the UK I am now in love with Bath and the tradition of Sunday Roast...

Revisited after a couple of years absence. Saturday night and not surprisingly busy. Food was good but not great. Service was friendly and efficient. Three course meal in under 2 hours from arriving to leaving. Ambiance good but a little noisy. About an hour into the meal the music was turned on - loud drums and bass. Not at all in keeping with the general eating proposition. I discussed this with the Maitre D - who immediately turned it off. Allow £40 per head with drinks.

It took me a while to actually go in here - for years, in fact, I walked past it during the summer and saw the middle classes out in force on the wide set of steps and patio area out the front right where The Triangle and Park Row meet. Well, in the end, I went in this summer and handed over a lot of cash for a single pint, and in the sun, I have to admit that it was a brilliant location to sip the nectar and watch the world go by for a while. I haven't eaten here (because of the aforementioned price factor), but all the food being served around me sure did look tempting. Maybe I'll go back this summer...

What an amazing location! Located in the heart of historic Bath, this is the place to enjoy an afternoon tea, lunch, dinner & an awfully smashing Sunday Roast! If food is not on your menu and you need to ease the pain of 6.5 hours of sightseeing - it's drink you crave - then stop in and wet your whistle with a pint or two of fine British Ale or something stronger from the bar.
The staff are always happy serve and are very knowledgeable about local spots of the beaten path that will complete your vacation. But, this review would be amiss if I did not mention dessert! Please, oh please be sure to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding! No trip to Brown's is complete without STP!!

Located in a former police station overlooking a green in the centre of Bath, Brown's is a relaxed restaurant/brasserie taht works for a lunchtime snack, evening couple's meal (though not hugely romantic) or group meal.
We've been there for a work Christmas lunch, having chosen it as a non-turkey venue, and were really pleased with teh quality of the food.
Inside there are knooks and crannies rather than a big open-plan space, so more interesting and intimate than some other places. Service was good.

Browns is great. It's affordable pomp, which is Bath, is good. The bar section is a good size and the bar is well stocked with a variety of different drinks from lagers to liquers. The restaurant area looks nice too, but I've not tried it. Browns is a great place to start the night out or end a cultural evening.
