Had a issue with my food to which they have been very nice and polite and sorted it for me to which I can say am very pleased with the service and overall interaction on communication highly recommend

Was staying in Barnstaple for a family funeral, with no restaurants/pubs being open we decided on fish and chips from Silver Cod, they do battered bits!!!!!!!! Portions just right, hot and tasty. If we are ever in Barnstaple again we will make a return visit.

Lovely food at a reasonable price.
Shame about the 2 person rule because when I go in with my carer 1 of us has to wait outside if anyone else enters the place. Which is awkward because I'm disabled and still trying to hold on to my independence.

Rang up on the off chance they were still open in lockdown 2, haopy to say they were and we had the best sausage chips and curry sauce around. All freshly cooked and no grease whatsoever. Staff were friendly and helpful would recommend to everyone. Service and food superb

Beautifully cooked fish & chips. Good value. Sat in back part of restaurant - didn't realise you could eat in. Great service. Definitely recommend.

Excepted an order one Uber Eats for scheduled delivery between 8:30 - 9 then at the last minute cancels!
They came back to me explaining the situation after I left the review so updating to 5 stars for customer service.

Fish and chips is just fish and chips right? Wrong. There are fish and chips and then there is The Silver Cod's fish and chips.
The chips are real not reconstituted powder chips and they taste real. The batter on the fish is to their own recipe and I've rarely tasted better.
My cod flaked of the fork. Superb.
There are alternatives to fish and chips on the menu, but why would you? And a children's menu is available.
The only downside is it's location. Though it is in Barnstaple it is just off the beaten track. Sure the locals know where it is but visitors and holiday makers could miss it. And that's a shame.
If The Silver Cod was in a more prominent location I reckon it would at least double its customers.
So if you are in Barnstaple looking for a quality fish and chip meal you need look no further than The Silver Cod.
