Old Talbott Tavern

Cool place, mainly for its history and cute gifts at the entrance. The food was just okay. My husband enjoyed the country fried steak... potatoes are weird and super thick though. My friend and I got the pot roast.. definitely NOT recommended. It was really dry and the cut potatoes tasted really weird. We couldn't figure it out... almost had a sour taste to them?? Neat to check out, at least once, but I wouldn't return.

Enjoyed this historical tavern. The fried Catfish we ordered was quite tasty with good seasoning. The homemade chips also really good. And of course our Bourbon mixed drinks delicious. The waitress was excellent and very informative about the history of this tavern. We were able to roam around and look at some of the artifacts. This tavern is worth the visit.

Nice dining in a very historic setting. Our server was spot on and very attentive, we had no need of want for anything. The appetizers were good, we had the stuffed mushrooms, garlic cheese biscuits and the beer cheese. The beer cheese comes with pretzel chips. I believe we had 5 whole ones, the rest looked like it was the rest of the bottom of the bag. That honestly doesn't deter us much, as long as they're big enough to work with. My granddaughter had a plain burger and fries, she's 4, nothing critical, had a good time. Entree's were the pork roast, which my daughter enjoyed and my wife and I both had the country fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes (skins on) with brown gravy. We both enjoyed that. I also had a cup of burgoo. It tasted good, but wasn't hot. I don't believe the server knew this, this would be a kitchen detail. I failed to mention it to him, that's my fault. All in all, it was a nice visit, we enjoyed our waiter, he was very kind. And while the food is good, it would be really nice to see more period appropriate dishes available.

We are from NY and this restaurant is exactly what we wanted. The service is friendly and attentive, but not annoying. My husband got the hot brown (never heard of it before) and loved it. I had the pork loin in bourbon mango sauce and it was cooked perfectly. The sweet tea was delicious and I don’t even like iced tea! I tasted my husbands bread pudding - OMG. The best! I highly recommend this place. ☺️

If you're in town make this a stop. Oldest bourbon bar there is! Great food, great history. Check out the second floor and explore a little. Dinner hit the spot. Fried chicken, walnut chicken and the fried steak were awesome. Thickest fried steak I've seen. We tried the mushrooms and meatballs- both were great. Staff was super friendly and made excellent recommendations. Dont pass on dessert, the cobblers were everything you expect them to be.

Bourbon bar- 5 stars all around. Inn- can't speak to it. Restaurant- 1 star. Went for late lunch(2p on Friday) and the place was dead. Literally 20+ tables available(more than half for only 2 people). They don't take reservations on Friday and Saturday for groups under 20. The hostess was quite rude(we were waiting at the hostess stand for around 10 minutes, and not the in check-in desk - it appeared to me that this upset her) and told us it would be a 35-minute wait. Just go to the right and enjoy the bourbon bar(same menu).

We had an amazing dinner! I had a bourbon flight with 5 choices that I had never sampled. 4 were awesome... 1 was ok. But that's why you try that right? I'm sorry I had left my phone in the car or I would've added pictures. Our server was perfect. The building was rich with history and stories. They even provided a 4-5 page printed history about the building and the area. It was a very memorable evening!
