Aldo's Restaurant

Aldo’s was my favorite restaurant in Baltimore’s little Italy. I am so sad that they closed. I am sure it was COVID and the backward policies of Baltimore City that crushed their business. I never had a bad meal at Aldo’s. They were all exceptional. I proposed at Aldo’s in the Romeo and Juliet balcony and we went there on every anniversary. It is heartbreaking for them to have closed.

Not great, maybe this was place was good at one time, but clearly is not interested in changing with the times. Everything was old a clunky and tired. Restaurant was not very clean, the paper towel basket in the ladies room had years if dust, and some "dirt" behind the door makes me wonder if there is a mouse problem here. Our waiter could not pronounce the specials. The cheese in my caprese was out of the refrigerator cold, not rich and creamy, my pasta was salty and oily. And when my husband ordered a martini with blue cheese olives I think they put salad dressing in regular olives...

I absolutely loved this place. My wife and I recently visited Aldo's Italain in Baltimore for our wedding anniversary weekend. I found this place online from a heap of similar Italian restaurants in the area. I'm so glad I decided on Aldo's. From when we first came in, we were greeted at the door by the friendly staff. Our waitress, Shanti, did her absolute best to make sure we we're well catered to. The food was impeccabble. I don't even like eggplant, but this eggplant I love! I'm glad I stole some of my wife's food. The gnocchi I still dream about. Most importantly, the atmosphere is wonderful! We sat in the open alcoce with the setting sun. Couldn't have asked for anything better. We loved this place so much, we ditched our after dinner plans and just sat and talked for hours. Definitely adding this place to the "revisit" list.

Food was pretty decent, unfortunately my date got sick later that evening from her dinner and threw it all back up :/ . The service at first was prompt and responsive. However after receiving the drinks and appetizers it was a very long time in between receiving the meals we both ordered. The plates lacked and sides and for an entree one would expect that, nope just fish and sides extra. The prices are high, the portions are small. Also during the stay the lights seemed to go on and off at their leisure like it was a signal it was time to go. It was ending the evening, dinner reservations were at 930 pm. Don't think we will be returning, unfortunate because the reviews I read were all positive. Hope you have better luck.
