Shogun Buffet Asheville

Hands down, the best Chinese buffet in wnc. During the pandemic, most restaurants struggled to maintain quality and cost at a balance. Known local favorites like Yao and Asiana struggled (Asiana eventually went out of business!) but Shogun Buffett did an excellent job, maximizing quality, still keeping prices reasonable/ affordable.

It’s a sit down American Chinese Japanese restaurant which is hard to find right now, at least we’re having a difficult time in Florida finding a sit down Chinese restaurant. This restaurant has traditional Chinese decor that was expensive when bought. The music was traditional Chinese opera music mixed with Kenny G but soft enough that my husband didn’t pick up on it. Their buffet is amazing! All the seafood was fresh. I had the spicy shrimp, peel and eat shrimp, white fish, and salmon and all were good. The standard Chinese dishes were good and plentiful. My favorite dishes were the American fresh creamed spinach with cheese, prime rib chunks, and Japanese wakame salad. My husband really liked the Crab Rangoon Wontons and the seafood salad. The BBQ ribs were flavored with American style BBQ sauce, which tasted great. Their dessert portions were larger than the usual Asian buffet. If you need a Chinese food fix this is a GREAT value. I’d eat here every week.

Have eaten many Chinese buffets all over America, and this is equal to the best of them. The salmon was tender and not dry, covered in a sauce that went well with it. Everyone seemed to fawn over the crab, which was good, but by far, no the best thing presented. Try a bit of everything. May not equal the 5 star restaurants, but compared to other buffets, you won't regret it. Also, I have to mention that the servers are on top of their game. Polite and very busy keeping tables cleared and drinks refilled. You won't have to ask.
