Cafe Phoenix

Fresh organic local food. Many choices. Beautiful garden. Friendly staff. It's a bit pricey, but it's probably got the freshest and tastiest food in town. It can bit a bit of a wait to order and get your food so be prepared for that. They also have the BEST gluten free cookies in town and maybe in the state (at least one of the best in the state).

I LOVE Cafe Phoenix, but my last food experience there was a little bit odd. I ordered their huevos rancheros, because I love huevos rancheros and I've loved everything I've ordered over the years from them. I guess I'm just thrown off by the presentation/composition of their dish. It arrived in a shallow bowl as what I can only describe as bean soup, with a pan fried tortilla at the bottom and fried eggs on top. It tasted great, so if it sounds appetizing, I won't discourage anyone from ordering it, but guys.... guuuys that's not huevos rancheros. That's bean and kale soup.

Place is overall pretty good, worth a stop. Many vegetarian options if you are into that, might be a little challenging for meat lovers however. Prices are a but on the high side for what it is. Outside is dog friendly. Coffee is good. Travelers and college students both can be found here. Parking could be better. Do not park at the restaurant next door.

My mom had the omelet special and I have the glorified grilled cheese. The potatoes with the omelet were soooo good! However I think the grilled cheese would have been so much better if the geese was actually melted but it was still good more like a cheese sandwich. I’ll be returning to try the grilled cheese again but I will be asking for them to fully melt the cheese, I’m looking forward to it.

Lovely location with outdoor seating. My oat milk cappuccino tasted burnt which is unfortunate but I think they were training a new barista. The bathrooms and eating space were clean with good service. Overall good food - the GF bread with the classic breakfast was a bit bland and dense & we wish the espresso was better :)
