Flats Bistro

As expected these days due to inflation; like most places..especially located near the beach, t'was a little bit pricey. My half jacket potato was a little burnt and was only a half a potato, where was my other half? As for the pizza, it was very bland and hardly had any pepperoni, cheese or sauce. The seagulls and pigeons enjoyed most of it. One could pobably get a better pizza from 711. One of the staff whilst handling food did not observe the California Department of Health guidelines on wearing a mask either!

Generally enjoy grabbing a coffee here in the morning... but today I decided to treat myself to a bagel. After what seemed like way too long I left with this burnt lump of coal that used to be a bagel. Why would you serve this? I didn’t notice until after we left, otherwise I would have asked for a new one.

This place is definitely worth stopping by! The service was great, really reasonable prices considering it's right on the beach, nice homely seating areas, and the food was the best part. We ordered the sand dollar pizza- it's this creamy, garlic bacon & chicken pizza that somehow feels light and savory. The coffee was as good as something you'd get at a speciality coffee shop. It's worth just coming in for a latte if you're not hungry. The only "cons" if you could say that are since the pizza was cooked in a fire oven, some of the crust was burnt, which is to be expected, but unpleasant nonetheless. Most of the seating is outside as well, which I loved, but something to keep in mind. The tables/ chairs were wet so it would have been nice if they had someone come by and wipe the areas down (and get rid of the occasional bird dropping) instead of us having to waste a bunch of napkins, they also use paper plates for dine in- which I don't really mind if it means costs will be lower but it felt a little out of place for the nice tiled tables.

I would honestly love to give them more stars. I just can't justify paying almost $20(tip included) for a burnt breakfast croissandwhich, banana, pear and a mineral water. I said nothing to them because I was already gone and almost at work before I noticed the burnt sammich. If they can justify me paying what I did for the poor quality food. I can justify giving them 2 stars. All of my reviews are honest and ALWAYS up for review. My intent is to give transparent reviews without getting too personal.
