Rita's

Rita’s is an ice cream, frozen custard shop in Foster’s Corner on Park Avenue in Apopka, Florida. It is on a corner across the street from the Dream Lake Elementary School and a short walk from the Apopka Post Office. Apparently this business is a franchise. It’s a popular stop for school children when school is finished. The place has eight round tables, some with umbrellas, in an outdoor seating area for enjoying the Florida sunshine. Rita’s has reasonable prices.

I’ve been to quite a few Rita’s. I love the custard. Went in to this location and ordered my usual vanilla custard. It was absolutely terrible. I remember a while back in another state there was an egg shortage, with clear signage in the store. The custard today tasted like it had when I had the “eggless” custard. It was grainy and not creamy, didn’t have the usual thick and rich custard taste. Disappointed to drive out of my way for this. I didn’t even eat it, I just threw it out.

Overall I love the Rita’s ice and custard. It is the best I’ve ever had and one of my favorite places for a great. However, each time I have been to this location the staff has been less than happy to help me and seems to have an attitude. The lack of professionalism is unappealing but the ice and custard make up for it. If you are going here, try the Gelati, you won’t regret it!
