Perkos Cafe

We decided to try the new Huckleberry's after not being too pleased with the Perko's that was formerly at this location. The place is clean and the staff was much friendlier than the last time I was in the building. The staff was very attentive and worked as a team to refill coffee for each other and they were quick too. My wife had the Tom's Scramble which comes with either a sausage patty or a chicken friend steak on the biscuit with eggs covered in country gravy with red potatoes on the side. I ordered the chicken friend steak and eggs with red potatoes and toast. Breakfast was delicious. We also got an order of Beignets, and holy smokes those are great.

Edited july 6th 2022: went back here for breakfast today and was very disappointed so I am changing my rating to 2 stars. Stacked chicken and waffles were sand dry because the chiken was overcooked and it was hard to chew. Flapjacks had raw batter in the center, eggs had undercooked eggwhites. Also were told that corned beef is no longer made fresh there but instead canned corned beef is now used.... Big disappointment! The waitress was very nice though. I hope this place doesn't go back to old Perko's standards and this was just one bad day 🤔. Original review: Excellent American breakfast place! My family has been here several times since they opened up and we got great food every time. My personal favorite is chicken waffle sandwich. The chicken is juicy and crispy, the waffles are perfectly chewy yet crispy as well, the sauces are great and pecan butter on top goes really well with the syrup. It's sweet and salty and chewy and crunchy at the same time. YUM! Tried fried green tomatoes - they were great! Eggs benedict and crabcakes - delicious! Skillets are awesome! The beignets deserve a separate reviews because they are divine! They are huge fluffy deep-fried pillows off straight up goodness served with huckleberry, peach, and strawberry sauces AND vanilla cream filling to dip in. We order them every single time. They go well with Iced caramel macchiato. Service is fast, waiters are polite and prompt. Nothing but good things to say about the staff. It's great that this franchise stepped up their game and got their food updates to modern times. Antelope needed a new breakfast and lunch place badly, and I think they will get a lot of business if they keep up serving the good food.

I would given this place a higher rating it’s been the third time or so I’ve been here food quality is always good but the service was very poor today our waitress ignored and complained about serving our table which was so unprofessional and other tables that were getting seated after us were be served there drinks and we sat there and had approach the seating hostess she stated the waitress was on break but I saw her go up to her and she pointed at us and the tables next to us she was serving and seemed like she wasn’t ready too serve our table we had to have the seating hostess take our order and drinks and she was nice and very attentive too us an original waitress deadra was not friendly or approachable at all and it wasn’t even busy and half the tables around us had food and drinks

This place was recently converted from an outdated Cafe (different name), updated inside, and wow! I've eaten at Huckleberry's in Modesto many years ago. Loved it. This location had high expectations and delivered on all points. Try the stacked chicken and waffles. The aoli they use gives it a unique flavor. Their waffles rival any breakfast spot in a 75 mi radius. Great pancakes as well. Chicken sandwich has a tasty slaw on it and the chicken itself it crispy, tender, juicy, and just spicy enough to make your mouth water. I'll try the burgers next. Prices are very fair if not slightly UNDER. Staff are on top of making sure your drink is topped off and your food comes quickly. Friendly and engaging. If you like comfort food done right, this is a welcome spot in an area saturated with pizza and fast food !

It was a holiday when we went. We were seated within 10 minutes. Clean, family atmosphere. Our servers were polite, attentive without being annoying. We tried the fried green tomatoes and beignets - both dishes were absolutely devine 💯 recommend! My daughter ordered the chicken and waffles side of reds (version of potatoes) I ordered the quiche side of fruit. Wasn't a fan of the quiche - at all. Didn't finish it. The chicken and waffles do not come stacked you have to do it yourself. They were okay sat slightly heavy in her stomach. The side of reds looked fire a touch heavy on the salt 🧂- something you can alter when you order I guess. They offer some sweet 😋 teas that I highly recommend. We tried the peach and the regular. Perfect sweetness , chunks of fresh fruit. Overall it was an okay meal 👌 I do want to try again when they seem less crowded(?) They offer a bit of everything even kids sizes. Maybe I'll do dinner next time
