Bar La Tosca

We stopped in for an impromptu lunch. Great pub like atmosphere and friendly bartender, although I thought the overhead music was a little loud. Surprisingly the calamari we ordered had jalapenos in it, I have never had it served this way and we absolutely loved it. It was crispy, salty, and spicy. The aioli sauce was very good too. We also ordered the Chicken flat bread and Chicken fettuccine. The chicken on the flat bread was very flavor ful, but I personally didn't care for the big chunks of tomatoes, but my wife really enjoyed it. The chicken and mushroom fettuccine was creamy and we'll balanced. This was a great little lunch spot and worth coming back to try other menu items.

Bar la Tosca is a great restaurant to check out in Ames downtown. Their cocktails are wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is always wonderful. The prices are great and it’s easy for anyone to find something they can enjoy. It’s a spot suitable for dates or meet ups with friends, probably not a restaurant for little kids though as the food is a little more geared toward an adult palette with more complex flavors that some kids might not enjoy. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality meal in a cozy place with great staff and unique, well crafted dishes.

Atmosphere was nice but the food and drinks were over-priced! If food is going to be priced this high with no sides included and no beautiful presentation, it better taste phenomenal...but it didn’t. It just tasted average. For $35 I got one small glass of wine and a small bowl of spaghetti. Would’ve been nice to have a salad or some type of bread included.

Went last night with my sister and a friend. I got there first, the gentleman behind the bar immediately let me know it was happy hour and what the happy hour specials were. Excellent. The music was a little loud, I'm old but I commented on it and he smiled and turned it down. Our waitress was wonderful, great sense of humor. And our food was excellent. We all totally enjoyed our evening out.

A bit pricey for sure, but this place is worth it. Quietly tucked on Main Street, it has great ambience, one of my favorite places for a nice Friday night dinner. I have had the best ricotta gnocchi here, which is certainly a must-try if you visit. Other than that, I could recommend the spaghetti. In small plates, their flat bread is good, but I didn't find it to be exceptional. They do not have much variety in the dessert menu, but the chocolate raspberry tart is good.

This review is based on the food, drinks and my coworkers comments. The service was NOT good. It was SLOOOOOOOW 😒. Food AMAZING! Drinks STRONG & AMAZING! My coworkers were very happy with their food. I had the Rigatoni sausage & beef....... DELICIOUS 😋. You should give it a try if ever in Ames. My drinks were French 75 & Margarita. NICE!!! You're boy The RIBOLOGIST IS OUT ✌🏾
