Dennis is literally the man ! At first when I came in to Made Man I was very hesitant to try a new barber, since my last barber had cut my hair since I was born. Unfortunately he had passed due to Covid, so I was forced to go through the uncomfortable and annoying task of finding a good reliable barber that understands what I want. Dennis had made everything so easy, gave me such a tight fade with a comb-over and nice royal shave for my beard. It’s safe to say he really took care of me. Literally best 100$ ever spent, I’m glad to say I have finally found my forever barber!!!

The hair cut quality is very low, in other words, poor attention to detail. My head was uneven in multiple places. Typically, my haircuts are $20-$25; however I was charged $40 at this location. Besides the overpricing and poor haircut quality the workers are really nice. The customer service is great and there was little to no wait time.

I got my hair cut and beard trimmed today at Made Man on 15th and 8th. It was a very strange experience. I walk in, and I'm greeted by an older gentleman who may have auditioned for the role of Konstantin in Killing Eve but was too shabby. He directs me to a crisp, well dressed and tattooed younger man who could be an extra in a Jason Statham action movie. although his dress clothes are well tailored enough it seems unlikely that he's ready for a fight. The place is empty other than these two, and no background music. As we get started, it becomes clear that my barber doesn't speak English, so while we can communicate enough to get the things done, it's otherwise dead silent for the 30 minutes I am in there for a cut, trim, and straight razor shave. Now, that good news is, everything worked out well, and I think the haircut looks good. However, I am unconvinced that the place is not a front for something out of Alias. I realize the bad guys in that usually used nightclubs, but I guess times have changed.

I went to Broadway branch, I cut my hair with Ely in Broadway branch, he doesn’t know how to cut short hair or even to blend it to make it even!!!! I left the store with gaps in my head!!!! And in my beard… never ever that barber, I tried this guy because my Turkish barber he use to work there and he left NYC, he was an amazing barber.

It was apparent that the man cutting my hair was a novice, which is totally fine by me, as long as there is direct supervision. There was none. The other man in the shop, who had once previously cut my hair (and had done a very fine job) was busy with another customer. It was clear that this guy had no idea how to cut hair and seemed very nervous. I am not sure if it is common practice, but he reused the same cape that he had just used with the previous customer. He did this weird thing where he did a triple knot with it on the chair after he took it off the previous customer, then struggled to unknot it when it was my turn. When he was using the clippers, he didn't put it flush against my head. I have never experienced this. I was under the impression that the clippers had different attachments for this purpose. While spraying my hair with water, he drenched my face and awkwardly tried to dry it up with his hand. When he was finishing up, he asked if I wanted a design in the side of my head and showed me a botched superman logo that he had previously attempted. The cut wasn't symmetric, so I had him fix it. Unfortunately it wasn't until I got home that I realized that he left a bald spot near my ear. At home I cut some patches myself. There were quite a few that he had left. All I can say is thank god I don't have any important events to attend in the upcoming days. My second time at Made Man Barbershop was definitely a disappointment. I pride myself on not being picky or difficult, so I'll usually just go to any barbershop. My girlfriend Charlotte has been telling me for 5 years that I really should just find one barber that I can trust. It pains me to say this on a google review, but she is right.
