I know that NYC isn’t a gastronomic place but, this restaurant is one of the best Japanese that I’ve ever tried in USA.
DEFINITELY A MUST!
You should bring your drink and enjoy the meal.

One of the best Asian restaurants in town. The lady behind the counter is always so nice and even though I treat myself here about once a month she remembers me! I always get the chicken Udon soup with a sticky bun and sushi rice in lotus leaf :) love you all a lot!

We enjoy to go out. Last night we came to this superb restaurant which we didn’t know before. We had a beautiful evening there with great meal and an efficient team and an impressive cook. We added this place in our phone list and we shall certainly visit again soon. We deeply recommend.

Hands down the best hand rolls around! I'd wait an hour to eat at this place. I've never been even slightly disappointed and everything always is consistently delicious. The texture of the rice, the freshness of the fish, the intimacy of the restaurant. Everything is perfect. Can not recommend enough! If you're in NY or even if you're not, make it a priority to go to Tanoshi Sushi Sake Bar. Even if you see a line, just know it moves fast and it's worth it!

This may have been one of the best sushi experiences I have ever had. For the price, especially when Omakase sets are 200-300/pp this is an incredible value. Just look at all the yummy treats Tanoshi Sushi serves. We will definitely be back.

This place is quite special. The sushi quality is absolutely amazing. Loved the omakase setup, chef was excellent at explaining what we were having, and the pace was good. Atmosphere was different, pop music and a lot of character. Very different from other sushi places that go for a sleek and polished look. Would highly recommend this place though. Am sure we will be back here! Special note, get the xxxl dish, it is the best.

Very different kind of sushi spot but it was great! They hand roll the sushi right in front of you and hand you the roll. You eat it immediately while it's crispy. They give you one by one. We are only in LA for a few days but we will be back!

Had a great omakase meal here and enjoyed everything from the varieties of dishes, the chefs, and the service. This is a small place seating 12 guests where chefs serve each piece of sushi as they make them. Reminded me of many of the restaurants in Japan. I liked the BYOB and then giving you a choice if a selection of drinking cups for it. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Make sure you're on time because serving starts promptly at the reserved time.
