Scuffletown Garden

Wow! I've been meaning to try Scuffletown Garden, and I'm so glad I made it over last night when I was in town for a wedding. The three of us shared the pork and pickles, Tokyo lettuce wraps, beef tartare, garden vegetable pasta, and farro salad. All of them were DELICIOUS, beautifully presented, and clearly thoughtfully created. Everything impressed. We went with the vegetarian option (mushrooms) for the lettuce wraps, and then spent five minutes discussing how they could've made mushrooms taste so good. Only wish we had asked! We also had two of the dessert specials, including the best carrot cake I've ever had. The drinks and service were also on point. We went with beer and wine, but we're already talking about coming back for the incredible looking cocktail menu and whatever the bartender's and dealer's choice might entail on it... and to order the rest of the menu! Scuffletown is an RVA must.

Bright and airy atmosphere, just the right number of choices on a relatively compact menu, cordial service, and food that is appealing to the eye and palate made for a wonderful first experience at Scuffletown Garden Restaurant and Bar. My cheeseburger was well balanced wth a creative addition of a tasty mushroom aioli that didn't overpower the other flavours. Please see my photos.

This place is so, so good! Every dish I’ve had has been on point. The monkfish was cooked perfectly and the presentation of the plate was beautiful. I’ve come in for lunch and received the best BLT I have ever had. They have an extensive selection of healthy, interesting vegetarian dishes as well. All local produce and even some herbs from their own garden! Such a cool, healthy, local flavor kind of place. Great service as well, highly recommend!!!

I stumbled upon Scuffletown's Instagram account about a week before they opened and have wanted to stop in ever since. I finally made it there last week with my fiancé. For starters, this little section of The Fan is really cute and Scuffletown's decor (focuses on plants) and frontage contributes greatly to the charm. The food is locally sourced when able and features some of the best flavors I've tasted in Richmond since Pasture. During our visit, we shared the beef entree (I'm still salivating at the flavor) and three smaller dishes (carrot & chicories, three-bean salad, and curry calasparra). The curry outstanding... it had portions of crispy rice that we were fighting over. The others were decent, I wouldn't call them my favorites, but there were definitely tasty. I think my next trip I'll just double down on that beef and curry 😀 We also each enjoyed a very well-dressed cocktail. I would highly recommend for a casual lunch, or romantic, date-night dinner!

Found this place by happenstance looking for another restaurant and we found a great little gem in the heart of Richmond. Food was flavorful, balanced, and service was excellent. Pricing was exactly where it should be. Kudos to the owner on a great restaurant. Hope to see you our next trip through. (Had Catfish and Grits yummy)

I’ve visited Scuffletown at least three times over the past few months. It NEVER disappoints. The staff has been extremely friendly, efficient and knowledgable about the items on the menu. This place is a gem in the Fan and I look forward to being a long-time patron. My favorite thing on the menu has been the pork, but the burger is incredible! I really enjoy the atmosphere and the innovative entrees.

Scuffletown Garden has quickly become one of our favorite eateries in Richmond. The restaurant is in a lovely space with great natural lighting and pleasant greenery all around. The service is outstanding and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and excited about the food. But the dishes themselves are the best part. The menu is concise and everything we've had—from the salads to the beet pasta to the sirloin—has been outstanding. Highly recommended.

I have been here twice and loved both experiences. The drink menu is on point and the menu options are changing with the season so I plan to visit frequently. They are also able to accommodate dietary limitations, which is a huge plus. I can't wait to visit again. Farm to Table food with a creative twist provided by Chef Adam (love this man's food).
